(part 3)
Sunken flung her hand up as she was wrapped in the warm mouth of the beast and stabbed the knife into its eye. The dog howled and released her, Sunken twisting the blade around in the socket a second more before jerking it out and falling backwards as she watched the huge creature stumble back. Blood dribbled down its face and Sunken quickly kneeled down and began to scrape the knife against the ground, the dog cringing at the sound. It growled taking a step towards them again when she held the knife up threateningly. It whimpered in submission and backed up into the shadows.
She stood there panting a moment before turning around to face the frightened Glass. He shrieked as she threw the knife at him, lodging its self in the pizza box next to him. "Great place to eat, Glass." Sunken stomped up to him, Glass standing shakily up and she grabbed him by the jaw, pulling his face close to hers. "I don?t know about you, but I?m not a fan of almost being eaten." She hissed, hearing the dog give a little growl and she flung her head over her shoulder. "OH SHUT UP!" The dog yelped and quieted.
Glass apologized over and over as she dragged him out of the building and down the street. "Sunken, I am so sorry...I-I had no idea...really I didn?t...I?m sorry..." Sunken suddenly shoved him into a brick wall, Glass crumbling to the ground and she leaned down.
"I?m not gaining anything from you Glass. Sure it was cute when we were kids and I needed somebody to lean on but now I?m getting tired of you. So just stay away from me, okay? Cause I don?t need you. I never needed you." She hissed.
"I-I needed you." He stammered and she scoffed, rolling her eyes and standing up.
"Don?t be so melodramatic, Glass. No you didn?t and you still don?t. Go find yourself some other girl to annoy because I don?t have time for THIS anymore." She motioned to him before walking out of the alleyway and jogging across the street.
Glass sat there in shock and fear, the sounds and sights of the city suddenly amplified. Using the building next to him, he stood up and walked down the alleyway, walking like somebody had just punched him in the guts.
Sunken walked down the side streets, having no clue where she was going when she stopped, hearing her name.
"Sunken isn?t it?" A young male voice behind her called and chuckled. "Who would name their kid that? I swore you were little miss Naomi. What happened to that pretty name?"
"Collin, go ____ yourself." She sighed and brushed her hair back behind her ear, revealing the nasty dent in her head. "Or is it Cicada? That ____ thing that sheds its own skin?"
Cicada frowned. "Be nice to your little brother, Sunken skull."
Sunken turned around. "What do you want?"
"To help you."
"I didn't know I needed helping."
"Our older brother has banned you from ever single bar, every place to eat, every place to live. He practically controls your life and everyone else?s. But I heard he?s settling down now, got himself a girl and a family." Cicada smiled.
"You?re point?"
"Let?s ruin it all."
Sunken gave a slow smile. "Well, I can?t say I haven?t missed you."
(part 2)
When they were stuffed, Glass looked over at Sunken playfully, the girl distracted as she rummaged through the pile some more. He picked up a banana peel and flung at her, Sunken gasping as it hit her in the face. She glared over at him before finding up a crumpled up burger wrapper and threw it right back at him, laughing as it apparently held a rat which dropped into Glass?s lap. He yelled out but couldn?t hold back a smile and before they knew it a full out food fight erupted. They smashed spoiled food into the others face, laughing hysterically as they made expressions of disgust and spat out mush. Sunken pushed Glass into the pile and snorted in laughter at his face as his he landed in something that probably was feces. He rolled out of it moaning before grabbing her hand and pulling her down with him, Sunken cursing as she fell face first. She grumbled and pathetically lifted her head up, Glass smiling at her face covered in muck. Sunken gave him a little smirk before she realized how freakishly close their faces were, so close she could feel his hot pants of breath that shook with light laughs until he too noticed the space between them. He looked her over for a moment, trying to hold back a blush as he realized she was staring at him with an uncharacteristic softness.
"Sunken...I uh...uh..." He stuttered, deciding to tell her is thoughts when she suddenly smashed gunk into his face and laughed, standing up. Glass was shocked and hurt at the same time his face molding into a look of offense.
Her smile dropped when she saw his expression. "What?s wrong Glasses?"
Glass was about to answer when a rumbling, deep growl shook the ground beneath them. His breath caught in his throat as he saw the huge form behind Sunken and the saliva dripping from its sagging chops. Sunken?s eyes widened and she froze. "Dog." She breathed.
Glass slowly sat up and tried to stand when the dog let out another snarl and stepped closer to Sunken. Heavy puffs of reeking breaths tossed her pale hair gently. Sunken moved her hand to her knife at her side, hand shaking. She then looked over her shoulder at the hideous, mashed up face of the giant beast behind her. Ever so slowly she squatted down, the dog?s head ducking down with her as she pulled out her knife. Its blade reflected the pale light and the dog gave an angry roar. It pulled back its head, jaws flinging open and drool raining down on Sunken who winced. Glass screamed as the dog?s jaws suddenly came down on the girl.
(part 1)
Sunken nudged the decaying head with the toe of her boot, hands on her hips as she scrunched her face up at the stench. She twisted around to look back at Glass, still childishly cringing at violence at sixteen and shivering like a leaf. "You come to kill your mother and instead find someone's already done it for you, just ruined my day." She kicked the head away, the body flopping over onto its chest as she walked over to Glass, hands stuffed in her long coat. "I?m hungry, let's go get something to eat."
Glass nodded, irked by the fact she was model worthy height and he would be forever stuck with his short and thin build-and the fact he?d just been forced to walk through threw a graveyard of rotting corpses. Sunken gave him a sliver of a smile before ruffling his hair. "What's wrong kid, cat got your tongue?"
He rolled his eyes. "We're the same age, you oversized rat."
She leaned in close and gave him a sneer. Glass averted his eyes uncomfortably. "That explain why I'm hanging out with trash like you, doesn?t it?" The corners of her mouth curled upward painfully before she flicked him between the eyes, dropping the smile and returning to her usual bored expression. Glass took a deep breath as she stepped back and walked down the alleyway, calling for him to follow. He scrambled after her.
Glass wasn't afraid of Sunken or repulsed by her presence like some cats. He saw her as a cushion, just a thin layer of fabric to keep in all the fluff which she was full of. Obviously she?d been stabbed too many times with needles that ripped her open and tore out the stuffing for his metaphor to work. Of course, as usual, Glass was an optimistic cat on the subject and overlooked the fact the only friend he had was a walking pin cushion, collecting needles by the minute. He also stuck around like any idiot would, by the fact he saw her attractive. Not because her face or body but her attitude, which was almost infectious to be around. He liked to live through her almost, to soak in the aura of not giving a care in the world about what others thought of her. If she wanted to walk into a bar and strip nude, he was sure she would do it. Course she wasn?t into that sort of thing; she was more of a 'sit back and laugh at the sucker' kind of person than the one being the fool.
Sunken snapped her fingers in front of Glass?s face, who had drifted off into his thoughts. She finally give him a little slap and a shake before he returned to her. "Huh, what?" Glass asked, not realizing he?d vanished from reality for a few minutes. She released his shoulders, grumbling under her breath about how few brain cells he left.
"Food, Glass. Do you know where we can get some?" Sunken snapped. Glass felt blood rush to his ears as he realized she?d finally given him a chance to take the steering wheel and drive for a moment, when he?d dozed off and had inevitably crashed into the deadly world of impatient woman. He was on dangerous turf now, and he had to slip away from the I?m-hungry-feed-me-NOW glare Sunken was giving him. Glass rolled back as shoulders, raising his chin and stuck his hands his pockets, giving a little smile as he bobbed his eyebrows.
"Yeah I know where to go." He smiled flirtatiously, having no clue what he was expecting to get out of the unamused girl before him. Sunken just blinked slowly as if waiting for more nonsense to come out of his mouth so she?d have a worthy reason to beat the snot out of him. Glass sighed, dropping his cool cat composure. "I know a few places..." He muttered.
She nodded and shoved him forward by the shoulder. "Lead the way."
Glass skittishly guided her through the streets, raking his mind where they could eat that they hadn?t already been kicked out of. Nothing came to mind, but he knew if he backed down now he?d look like a total idiot. Before he knew it, he was standing before a great gaping hole in the side of a dark building. He remembered this used to be a hot spot to get drugs and few scraps of food if you talked to the right person.
"This is the place?" Sunken asked from behind him in disgust, Glass jumping and had forgotten she was even there.
He took a step over the rubble pieces and into the open space, some small windows far off across the room were the only thing that brought a pathetic amount of light into the chamber. "Scrap heaven." Glass?s eyes widened in awe at the large heap of food piled high in one of the corners of the room. Sunken stepped up next to him, standing with him as they both stood there in wonderment. They looked to the other and smiled like idiots before darting over to the pile. The two of them dug in, hungry as heck, not having eaten correctly for the past month.
