Toxicmamba scoffed. "Yeah. Totally." He grumbled, taking a few steps away. "You shouldn't just throw fun out the window just because you've had enough." He looked at his scar riddled body. "You should enjoy it." 

Jade looked him up and down, her tail curling around her paws as she sat down neatly. "Yeah, you look like you've had your fair share of fun." She meowed, studying his scars.

"Like you could call it fun." The tom meowed, keeping his gaze away, his head always tilted to the left so the scar over his eye was less obvious. 

Jade blinked, thinking that she had hit a soft spot. She quickly changed the subject..partly. "Well..what do you like to do for fun?" She asked gently, a small smile on her lips.

Toxicmamba flicked his ears for a moment. "Fun?" He said, turning his head slightly to look at her. "I don't do fun." He mumbled, remembering everything with his father and the lack of bond the two had. "What do you do?"

Jade shrugged. "I like walking around the city, looking at the different things going around. A lot of things are always happening in the city, things that sometimes I don't understand. I like helping others and searching for herbs. And meeting cute toms." She added with another giggle.

"Isn't being a med cat supposed to be abstinent or something like that?" He asked, looking at her. "Isn't that wrong?" 

Jade placed her paw on her chest fur with a surprised expression. "Just because I think a tom is cute doesn't mean I'll go throwing myself at him." She smiled and set her paw down, her pretty green eyes focused on him once more. "But yes, we're not supposed to fall for anyone. It would distract us from our duties as medicine cats."

Toxicmamba looked at her with a bit of surprise at her reaction, then settled down as he looked up. "Speaking of medicine cat duties don't you go to Gatherings?" He asked, and then he felt his heart stop. In the announcements, he wasn't going to the Gathering... His father was. He gulped a bit, and dug his claws into the ground. Maybe he could talk to Sandrunner? Let him go instead? No. He looked like trouble. His father was a perfect tom in other cats eyes. But if she was his target, he had to try. He had to - or it would be her death. "Jade, if I asked, would you not go to the Gathering?"

Jade raised an eyefur at the tom, a bit skeptical of his ideas towards her. "Why would you ask me that?" She meowed gently, seeing the urgency in his eyes. Maybe he knew something that she didn't, for she was inclined to actually listen to him. She was turning into quite a bad medicine cat. But it wouldn't matter if she went to the medicine cat meeting, right...?

The tom looked over the grass. "There's way too many murderers. They will target the medicine cats since they heal the wounded or critically injured." His eyes scanned his paws. "And you should stay safe."

Jade thought for a moment, her eyes narrowing. There had been murders? She had not been informed of this..probably because she was so new. She hadn't even had a conversation with Hollowstar yet...kind of just came in and snatched the medicine cat apprentice position. "That's sweet of you, Toxicmamba." She meowed, still hesitating though."Would you keep me company..?"

Toxicmamba was hesitant, looking at her with wide, fearful eyes. Why was she so accepting? And why did he want to go right to her? Protect her? His eyes scanned hers for a moment. "I..." His eyes scanned the ground in the hopes of an answer. He couldn't say yes, could he? That would lead her right into his father's trap. But, if she was with him, he could protect her, right? When you have something to protect don't you get stronger? He gulped. "I might put you in danger." He whispered, his eyes low. "I'm too weak with my injuries. My bones are brittle, my heart barely pumping..." He sighed, obvious sorrow in his voice. "How can I protect you from the wolves, if I don't have any teeth?" 

Jade's ears fell back. Put her in danger..? Was he related to the murders that had been happening? Surely not...not this sweet soul. Not someone who had warned her about going to the Gathering. She felt something, though..like she could trust him. His soft blue eyes, his honest yet insecure way of carrying himself. There was something about him..She shook her head. She couldn't...she was a medicine cat. She wouldn't get into so much trouble for skipping one Gathering, would she? She would just explain to Hollowstar that she was out helping a cat in need. And the way Toxicmamba's pelt look..she wasn't particularly lying. Without hesitating Jade went closer to the dark pelted tom and tucked her head under his chin, hoping to comfort him. There was obvious some inner termoil this tom had going on..and she wanted to be there for him. His words seem to strike her right in the heart..where she was most vulnerable. Could she let her guard down with this..Toxicmamba? Or would he poison her from the inside out?

"Why wouldn't I be nice to you?" Jade answered after a while, glancing at her paws and trying to still the pounding of her heart due to him nuzzling her head. She truly thought that he would have pushed her away somehow..but the fact that he didn't made something grow warm inside her. "You don't pose any threat to me..at least not yet. But, even if you did I have a feeling I could take you on." She teased gently.

"Because I'm weak. Because of my scars. Because of my eye." He mumbled. "If you were from SunClan, you'd probably make fun of how terrible son I turned out to be compared to my father?" He scoffed. "I'm just not... used to friendliness."

"Well, I'm not from Sunclan so I haven't had the pleasure of meeting your father. But all those things you just listed..doesn't mean you aren't worthy of friendliness. If anything you deserve it more than others. And I think the scars give you a sort of...bad boy look." She giggled.

Toxicmamba's gaze shot down. "I hope you never meet him." He mumbled under his breath, before looking over the scars on his body. "Bad boy look? Surprising. But these scars weren't received from 'bad boy activities' like fighting or hunting."

Jade blinked and pulled back so she could look at him. "Really..?" She meowed quietly, her eyes moving down and over his body. She started piecing what he was saying together, but didn't say anything. If his scars weren't from fighting or hunting...and he didn't want her to meet his dad..then..that would mean..?
