Malardcry walked into the territory... The new territory. This felt so strange. He scented the air, hoping Dawnpaw was out. He needed a friend.

Briarpath hauled herself along the border, both praying that StarClan would keep any enemy patrols from her and begging that the Dark Forest would send them. A nasty bite across her shoulder impeded her movement and was beginning to reek of infection over the herbs the medicine cats had slathered over it.

Member Posts: 789 | Dawnchaser strolled along the border. "This use to be Sun clan's territory," she thought to herself as she sniffed at the ground. Dawnchaser padded on sniffing the grounds around her. Around every rock, tree, and Bush, she stucked her nose in.

Briarpath suddenly froze and raised her head to scent the air. Fox-dung! She swore as she dropped into a low, defensive crouch and prayed that the EarthClanners wouldn’t scent her beyond the border or, if they did, they would leave her be.

Shasta was walking along the border when he smelled the infection and old blood. His head swiveled this way and that. What was out there that smelled like death? He stopped when he saw a she-cat lying among the herbs. Was she hiding? If that was the case, she wan't doing the best job. The faded gray tom with the white tabby stripes smiled when he recognized her. "Roadkill." he said with a teasing grin. Malardcry walked to the border and was delighted to see Dawnchaser. "Hey, Dawn." he mewed. "Long time no see, huh? I mean, I saw you at the gathering, but I didn't get to say hi."

"Step across the border and that's what you'll end up as," Briarpath growled, the fur on the back of her neck prickling as she realized she'd been spotted.

Shasta tilted his head. "You don't have to snap at me." he purred, albeit somewhat irritably. None the less, the tom sat down where he was. "What happened to you? You look much worse than last I saw you."

"What do you think happened to me? You and the rest of your goons attacked." Briarpath answered, her voice rising to a full hiss.

"Ooooohhhh, that's right... We did." he purred menacingly as he took one step over the border. His expression softened just a mite as he looked her over. "Come now; you look like the Dark Forest; let's clean you up at least."

"I'm quite capable of cleaning myself, thank you, and my medicine cat is going to skin me alive if I so much as touch that poultice," Briarpath got to her feet, her muscles bunching up as she prepared to dart away if Shasta threatened to step closer. "Are you really so desperate for another trophy for your clan that yo'ud kill a dying she-cat?"

He tilted his head. "Niet... The battle's over; I have no reason to kill you." he said. "... What's that poultice even made of? It smells like it's not working."

“I don’t know. Plants?” Briarpath spat across the border, still eyeing him suspiciously.

"Hm... So, if your medicine cat has tended to you, what are you doing out here?" he asked, laying a single ear back.

“Looking for trouble, I suppose is how my clanmates would put it,” Briarpath answered with a bit of a chuckle. “It seems like I was successful on my quest.”

"Seems you were." he said with a smirk. He took another step over the border. "I like trouble seekers; my father was one, as was my brother... Or so I heard from my father." He flashed her a breif smile.

"Sounds like it runs in the family, are you trouble too?" Briarpath answered, her fur prickling as he neared her. Knowing she couldn't defend herself or outrun him, she held her ground. "My mother always said I was trouble too, but the rest of the family is picture-perfect. I guess every good SunClan family needs a black sheep, to set the rest of the kits straight."

Dawnchaser jumped in surprise. But as soon as she realised Marlardpaw's voice she turned and smiled, "Hey, long time no see, Malardpaw." then she confidently say up straight and announced, "I'm officially a warrior now call me, Dawnchaser,"

He chuckled, sliding onto his belly so he lay directly across from her. "Well, of course! After all, what Night Clan cat isn't trouble?" he purred. "You the oldest?" "Well, if I must call you Dawnchaser, then you must call me Malardcry." he teased, face brightening with a smile. "How long ago were you promoted?"
