Flood Arc Plot Planning II

Posted by Ember on January 1, 2016 at 3:10 PM

How long do y’all want the flooding to last?

We’re getting to the end of when the arc was scheduled to come to a close, but there’s been little conflict between the clans. What do you think we should be using as a source of tension (sickness, some planned conflicts between leaders and groups, maybe some skirmishes breaking out, etc.) or would you rather leave this arc as one that unifies the clans against, for instance, a drought?

I don't think we should end the arc all that soon. There hasn't really been enough time for clan lines to blur, and nothing of real importance has ended up happening (who likes roleplaying a bunch of happy cats all getting along?)

As for a source of conflict however, I don't really have anything. If the leaders were going to start fighting about something, it probably would have come up already.

Well, I agree with Angel. Nothing has really happened all that much to spark some excitement. Maybe we could do a mixture of conflicts? For example, sickness could cause some tension. The Leaders might argue who gets the herbs. SunClan, since they let them shelter, might have some onslaught, and since they let the Clans shelter, they might want some herbs. Or, the other Clans could argue that since they brought the herbs, they should keep them.

Murder usually causes conflict. So, maybe a cat from one clan, gets in a fight with a cat from another clan, and one of them ends up getting killed. One leader insists that their living warrior was not at fault, since they were defending themselves, and the leader of the dead cat demands that the murderer be handed over to their clan so they can punish them.

That sounds good too.

That sounds like a good idea-maybe something with Scarletdeath of Nightclan with Sunclan, seeing as currently-at least to my knowledge-Nightclan has cats feeling mistrustful towards her? No offense Queen

I was going to suggest Scarletdeath just because I was going to mention that having a deputy as the "murderer" would put a lot more strain on the clans (because obviously you're not going to give up your deputy to another clan) but it's completely up to Queen whether she wants to or not, or if it's even within her personality to do so.

I don't know if there's another deputy who could possibly get into a fight with a warrior from another clan, none of them seem as hot-blooded as NightClanners.

The leaders could start fighting about the cross clan relationships like if some might be opposed to it and other might not be opposed to it...or something like that

Wish and me planned for Poppypaw to kill Molekit of Sunclan, so maybe that could be a source of conflict?

I don't know if any leader could justify killing a kit. For a leader to be able to defend their warrior or apprentice, the fight would probably have to be a really spur of the moment, life threatening thing.

So, I'm thinking a little differently.
The flood could end, everyone goes back, everything worked out great, right? But that's the problem: Everything worked out too well. So now we got a bunch of cats who were together long enough to begin caring for each other, etc., and if enough cats leave to join other clan that could end in arguments. If one clan, maybe Night, decided they would ban cross clan relationships in hopes of stopping them, and cats instead decided to leave Nightclan to, say, Dawnclan in order to have their relationships, that could cause problems. Nightclan and Dawnclan could go to war, Nightclan wanting their cats back and Dawnclan being all like, "Love, Love, Love!"
Then we could throw in a particularly strong strain of greencough, and a few of the forest clans could run out of varmint. They could go to the city clans and say, "Yo, give us catmint!" and Nightclan could say, "Not until our warriors come back!" Then they could brawl, ending with a victory for "Love, Love, Love!" and a lose for Nightclan.
I think the flood should last longer, too, to get all of these cross clan relationships kicking.

I like Eveningrose's plot, and I think they should eventually end on a good point, but I don't want it to happen yet. I don't think strong enough relationships have really been established yet, there's no issue with kits yet, they just haven't all been together long enough for cats from other clans to have strong feelings for each other.

So, about Lion's idea, I wouldn't mind. As long as she stayed Deputy and doesn't die, It's fine.

For Evening's idea, that sounds cool. I've already got some cross-clan relationships going.

Yep I like Evening's idea as well I've got two relationships going for now, one question though even if neither of the cross clan lovers come from Dawnclan would they still go to Dawnclan to get away from both of their original clans?

I think Lion?s idea would work well, particularly if it was a more respected member of another clan that Scarletdeath got into a fight with. Maybe they could be a SunClanner, to break up their old alliance?
I agree that we should wait a bit on the clans leaving, even if it is on a happy ending for the most part we can use this set up for events clans can point to later on down the line.
We could use sickness as an element in rising tensions, but I don?t think we should have it be a major plot point after having it be what started the medicine cat arc.

I like Lion's idea, and maybe there could be cross-Clan relations on top of that? Like, the Clans would be at war, but some cats refuse to fight. But the arc should last a bit longer, so the warring cats will be trapped together in one territory.

Maybe it could be a Sunclan cat that was just made an elder? That way, they would probably still have some skills to fight and wouldn't be a creaky bag of bones yet, but they would be respected since they are technically now "retired" and have served their clan.

If no wants to offer their SunClan character up for death, I'll volunteer Buckhunter. He's a single father taking care of a kit right now, and has the tendency to be a little hotheaded, so I can see him getting into a fight. (If anyone would rather it be there character, go right ahead, I only want to kill Buck as a last resort x))
