Flood Arc Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on December 8, 2015 at 11:10 PM

Hey guys! While we have the wider events of our next arc planned out, we need to settle the finer details of it.

What we do have planned entails the clans experiencing a large, sudden storm. NightClan will be forced out of their camp by a flash flood, while a dam breaks upstream forcing MoonClan and DawnClan to abandon their own camps. The only clan left in safety will be SunClan, who will accept the other clans in for as long as it takes for the flooding to subside. The arc will break down some tensions left over from the Medicine Cat arc and could be used to create new bonds for our next arc.

The flood will take place in mid- to late- December, what specific dates do you guys believe will be best? As mentioned in the December Gathering and Medicine Cat Meeting, it’s possible we could cancel the medicine meeting (as there are no site-wide plot points planned for then) to push the flood earlier.

I personally would prefer if we didn?t move the Medicine Cat Meeting back, as we missed the last one and they provide ways for the clans to exchange information in a less public arena than the gatherings.

With the flooding arc, I think it would be best if we left the finer details of what occurs while SunClan hosts the other clans up to individual roleplayers instead of playing it all here. It?s somewhat of a gamble, but we?ve got such a colorful cast of leaders and deputies right now, I?d be shocked if they didn?t get themselves into some sort of conflict. However, I can understand wanting to plan who pairs with who, to ensure we have a more SunClan-DawnClan oriented plot as was supported in the last plot planning entry.

well, being taken into sunclan, i feel the more aggressive leaders (namely locuststar and coldstar) could possibly demand shares of sunclan's land? this could cause some drama and excitement

Reasons the Leaders could demand land are like, if another flood happens. They would want a share to protect themselves. And SunClan isn't the most hostile of Clans, especially since Epochstar leads. So it might be hard to fit that in? Plus, they would want land since they couldn't live on their territory, at least temporarily.

I don't think demanding land would even make sense for the hostile leaders. Epochstar could simply tell them to find somewhere else to live if they were going to try to take advantage of his kindness.

Coldstar wouldn't demand for land, that goes against his personality. If someone is going to show him kindness, he won't take advantage of it, no matter how hostile he is.

Well, going on for the dates, maybe start it on the 18, 19 or 20th? That way if the plot takes a little while there is enough time to wiggle things?
As far as the land thing goes I can't really see Epochstar being THAT much of a push over.

I'll explain. I believe Owl was referring to Epoch declining, Mocking. She said to cause drama and excitement. And I believe that is what would happen, Angel, but it would take the SunClan centering away from them a bit. Probably focused on the other Clans she they were finding somewhere new to live temporarily. Peer pressure could cause Coldstar to rethink things if a Warrior or possibly Phantom suggested, although I'm not an expert on Phantom's personality.

How flooded would it get? And I just wondering but how will one clans territory feed four different clans like would some cats have to starve. One last thing I really like the plot idea how long is it going to last it sounds fun I'm just naming my concerns

So, for the land thing, cats could stake claims on certain parts of the territory while they are there. Like, Moonclan could be like, "We'll hunt here and nobody else can hunt here!" And stuff like that, which could cause fights between the clan about whose section to hunt in is who's. Does that make sense?

And I feel like the arc should be longer. We could get the clans into a bunch of trouble from all sorts of things- Disputes, hunger, cross clan relationships, etc. Everything could go wrong. Some cats could feel loyal to other clans after the floods and try to stay in Sunclan or another clan, and they could go so far as to try to make one mega clan. Other cats could try to suicidally go back to their own territory, fed up with the other clans and perhaps their own. Skirmishes could break out between everyone. I feel else like this is loose enough to give each roleplayer freedom, but violent and exciting enough to last a while.

I like your idea, Evening.

I'm looking forward to this arc and I think that it'd make since for Sunclan to demand tribute from the other clans for taking them in. Also, when this happens, if anyone else is interested, I'd like a forbidden relationship

I think it'd be cool if cross clan relationships ran rampant, and then there'd end up being disputes about which kits belong to which clans, and just other general chaos about clan identity.

i like eve's idea for sure. and yeah, like what queen said, i doubt epochstar would give in to demands, so itd be more like lots of tension between the clans. with what eve said about cats trying to go back to the clans, maybe dawnclan tries going back to their territory reasoning that they can swim well enough? but it maybe puts dawnclan in danger? but then we dont want the focus to shift off of sunclan... hm...

Something else that could happen when all of the clans are gathered that allows more people to participate directly in the plot:

The leaders of all the clans can take action against the disputes and fights that will most likely break out among the clans by creating a group of cats called Peacekeepers. Their name is pretty self explanatory, they would just be charged with settling disputes between the warriors and dealing with all of the little things that are going to happen since the leaders and deputies can't be everywhere at once.

To add a bit more tension and complication to it, the Peacekeepers could also be forced to swear off loyalty to any particular clan so that they can moderate disputes unbiasedly.

@Angel I like the idea, but wouldn't Moonclan be against that idea after seeing what happened in their own clan with the Enforcers? Of course, their resistance to the idea could help bring fights along.

I like that as well. It'd be very interesting.
