Isolation Plot Planning III

Posted by Ember on September 1, 2016 at 2:10 AM

Hi everyone! If you haven’t already, please review the Planned Events portion of the History Page.

In our last plot planning entry, we decided to have the MoonClan/DawnClan battle take place this coming weekend (September 2nd-4th). However, we need to plan how we are going to escalate a skirmish between rogue DawnClaners and a MoonClan patrol to a large battle including the majority of both clans.

There are some more plot ideas that have been floating around for a while but need to be fleshed out, such as when the MoonClan spies are discovered in DawnClan, what will the chain of events be that lead DawnClan to send out spies of their own, and then the other clans to follow suit? As well, what are we doing with the prisoners NightClan has taken? My assumption would be that the other clans will take NightClan prisoners and attempt to trade hostages. However, we could have the other clans attack NightClan if the kidnapping continues, or if NightClan refuses to give up their prisoners in return for the captured NightClanners.

There have been a few plot elements that have been neglected lately, so I’d like to remind everyone that NightClan should be shifting into a violent, eager-to-prove-themselves mindset, while SunClan becomes very strict and single-minded in the pursuit of building up their clan’s strength. Incorporating these ideas into your cats’ day-to-day interactions will help push things forward much more than individual “larger” plot points will.

Aspenstar and Poppystar will both be retiring this month, how do we want to handle that?  Spicy, Lilywish, would you like them to retire, be killed, or...?

Hm? if we do go from that historical perspective, Hawkstar?s daughter Bluestar and the NightClan leader Jetstar held an alliance between NightClan and DawnClan for a long time.

The apprentices eating twoleg food could cause an uproar in camp, getting tensions to rise,

Especially if they aren't found quickly

Okay, it could be larger. Lightningstar sounds cool actually. Fanning the flames would be good to make things more realistic.

Tensions in camp seem to be dying down so if we want something larger we're probably going to have spark a few events prior to that one. It seems that most of the cats, even the nationalists, weren't on Skeletonfury's side during the attack, and weren't too sorry for his death.

If we're doing the alliance thing, i have an idea for it, and to cause the NightClan spies to be discovered.

Sharpblades in NC dies under mysterious circumstances (Or the other NightClan spy.) and the other remaining NightClan spy delivers the news to MoonClan. MoonClan gets hostile towards NightClan and want revenge, eventually causing the other spy to be discovered by NC, possibly killed too or thrown in prison. MoonClan gets more suspicious of NightClan after more MoonClanners start disappearing, but it's actually a small band of cats in their allying clan that are against the alliance killing them off, eventually causing MC to have a fight with NC.

Idk I'm just throwing out random ideas. We could remove the small band of cats part and replace it with something else. It depends on which clans are allying. If DawnClan was allying with MoonClan, there could be something to do with either the traditionalists or nationalists there.

Okay, we could have some events lead up to cats attacking Flamestar. Perhaps the rumor of Lightningstrike and Flamestar plotting to kill Oriolstar for leadership could start and spread, setting some cats one edge a bit. Then perhaps Flamestar could banish a cat from a misunderstanding and that could put more cats on edge until they just all out attack her. Skeletonfury's relatives could start making the tensions larger by persuading cats towards their side to attack Flamestar. Skeletonbones seems like an ideal cat to do that.

Lochflame, I think your plan would actually work better if we changed up the order of events. MoonClan can grow suspicious of NightClan as their cats go missing, since they know NightClan was taking prisoners earlier, and their spies (for reasons we can figure out later if we decide to go with this plan) aren?t reporting back. Since MoonClan has become so arrogant they?ll send only a small patrol to approach Chugaistar- as they don?t know he?s left the clans- and instead have Kingfish?s group attack them. In retaliation for the death of one of the patrol members, MoonClan will attack NightClan in full force.
That also offers a way to end the alliance, as NightClan and DawnClan could band together against MoonClan, who has been harassing both of them. MoonClan will reach out to SunClan who, seeing the instability in DawnClan and NightClan, will ally themselves MoonClan as they?re the least likely to descend into chaos at any given moment.

In DawnClan, instead of just rumors we can also have the nationalists openly pushing their clan toward their side and harassing the traditionalists.

Hopefully this is all coherent, it's been a long day.

That sounds good. Maybe the spies won't report back because they have gotten used to NightClan and want to stay (I think Sharpblades would stay if this happens) or Kingfish found out that they were spies somehow and killed/imprisoned them?

Yeah, I think the reason spies aren't reporting should be because they were discovered, or if Sharpblades and Ivyfrost end up wanting to stay (although Ivyfrost isn't the kind to stay in NightClan, so maybe Sharpblades ends up liking NightClan and rats her out to Kingfish?)

So, I was thinking over the DawnClan plot, and it just seems entirely unlikely that a nationalist would be upset with Flamestar for plotting to kill Oriolestar so she could become leader and elect Lightningstrike. They'd essentially be fighting their own side with that mindset, so it might be more realistic if, instead of Skeletonfury's family being the initial ones to case trouble, it could be the traditionalists who bring up the accusations.

The tensions between the two groups could eventually rise to a point where an unhinged extremist attacks and kills Flamestar, and then a nationalist attacks/ possibly kills that traditionalist and the entire camp breaks out into a battle.

At the end of it, to restore some semblance of order, Lightningstrike would banish those on both sides who were responsible for the murders of any of their clan mates during the battle (ideally at least one nationalist and one traditionalist). This would alienate her from the extreme sides of both groups and finally give the moderates a chance to heal- since it seems that the traditionalist/ nationalist dispute has been cooling down anyway recently.

im very tired this may be a really bad idea but to go along with lightning's idea, maybe the two sides could like split the camp in half or something before the battle to raise tensions idk im tired

In the DawnClan Territory thread, Meadowbreath, Crossbuck, and Flamestar are discussing sending a patrol of DawnClanners to SunClan to inform them that NightClanners have been crossing through their territory (which is how Kingfish got to DawnClan to kidnap Price, presumably). Meadowbreath suggested the idea and hopes that it will cause SunClan to find the tracks and attack NightClan which, Meadowbreath thinks, will free Price and any other DawnClan prisoners without exposing how weak DawnClan is right now.
Would y?all like them to actually go through with the patrol? And if so, what should SunClan respond with? We can use it as fodder to push MoonClan and SunClan closer in opposition to NightClan, but could strain NightClan and DawnClan?s eventual alliance if/when the NightClanners find out what happened.

It sounds good to me. It will certainly help complicate things, which is always useful for a plot since it opens up other potential courses of action in the future.

Perhaps SunClan could become suspicious of this random act of kindness from DawnClan, and assume that they are somehow trying to trick SunClan into either antagonizing NightClan, sending out more patrols to cause a general fatigue/weakening in the clan, or befriending DawnClan so that the weak, starving river cats can have help in fighting MoonClan, or anything else which SunClan could see as bad for their clan.

I like that idea that the patrol should carry out.
I like the idea that the Traditionalist party starts throwing accusations at Flamestar, thus causing one of those Traditionalists to attack her and kill her (some wounds take all lives), and then a Nationalist jumps in to try and stop the fight while Flamestar is, well, losing her lives, and it ends up becoming an all out battle in the Clan until Lightningstrike stops it and some cats are banished. I think that the MoonClan spies are still in DawnClan, and could return to their Clan after reporting this.

Hey everyone!

So, I need to start ramping up Kingfish's activity. Currently I have planned that he's going to organize hunting patrols over the borders of the different clans, marking over the borders, and obviously his usual of capturing cats who stray too close to NightClan.

But, I have one event in particular that I need help with: a massacre. Kingifsh is going to have a patrol come with him into another clan (either Sun or MoonClan, but not DawnClan yet as he's trying to form an alliance with them at the moment), and kill a rather large amount of cats. The parts I'm hoping to have filled are:

a) disposable characters (Ember, perhaps a few of us can make characters the day of or before the raid to be killed?)

b) Kingfish followers who will come on the raid (about four or five, maybe even six other cats excluding King)

c) *OPTIONAL* one character in NightClan who wants to stop Kingfish (will be wounded or killed, depending on players choice) (FILLED)

Ember/moderators, I do want to ask before I proceed: I wanted Kingfish to raid a camp, but if you would prefer that not to happen, I would have to see if we can organize a large hunting/border patrol for this to happen.

I'm okay with him invading MoonClan and I'm okay if Mantis-strike is killed in that battle. I could have Darkglow and Gingerpatch (I'll adopt Ginger again) help with the attack. Perhaps Mallowfoot could die then as well.

I volunteer Thistlepaw to help out Kingfish if the raiding proceeds, would rather not have him dead, but injured is fine by me.
