Isolation Plot Planning II

Posted by Ember on June 5, 2016 at 1:35 AM

Hey guys! In the last two Plot Planning Pages we’ve discussed a lot of good ideas, however we haven’t decided how these ideas will fit together into a one story line:

Two-legs may begin poisoning prey, which the clans mistake for planned attacks by enemy clans.

Blackpine will be killed by Seraphgaze, prompting Lionstar to seek revenge. However, he does not want to be seen openly attacking and orders his warriors to stalk along the border and look for discreet ways to undermine DawnClan’s security. While walking along the border, the NightClan patrol discovers a small fire caused by a cigarettes thrown from a car and help fuel the fire before returning to their territory.

The fire plot is related to potentially polluting the river, but he ash itself wouldn't be the main polluter, as the fire would stay relatively small and not burn down whole trees, mainly lower-growing plants and leaf litter. We can just use it to cause an algal bloom, then the resulting fallout from that. We can exaggerate the following fish kill, which NightClan could use to their advantage, even if it’s a consequence they didn't originally expect. As well, ideas have been thrown about involving NightClan polluting the water in other ways, possibly with two-leg trash or even with the bodies of other dead cats and prey.

Riversoul and Alienfish brought up the possibility of clans bringing in spies, possibly beginning with apprentices in meetings and later escalating to clans sending in cats pretending to be changing clans. As these spies are found, a witch-hunt may begin among the clans as they attempt to root out other potential spies among cats who had recently joined the camp.

Toxic and I have also been tossing back and forth a few ideas of where to carry this plot, focusing on SunClan:

SunClan can become a scapegoat for the apprentices meeting up and the other problems that have been occurring between the clans, a sentiment that will be particularly strong in NightClan. Today, Lightningdance and Leopard-dance took their kits to the Gathering Clearing to show them to their friend, Nightfall. Hel, a SunClanner, caused accidentally caused their three kits to die. A fight broke out, witnessed by Darkstar and a SunClan patrol originally sent to bring back Aloepaw. Lionstar hears of the kits’ death and decides to pin some additional murders on SunClan and may try and convince MoonClan and DawnClan to put SunClan “back in its place”. This acts as a departure from total isolation, however we can approach the alliance as only temporary.

The three clans can attack SunClan, which will force their leadership to crack down on their members to ensure the other clans can’t pin any more trouble on the SunClan. At the most dramatic, this could entail both Darkstar and Zenithrose being killed and a tyrannical cat taking control, or we can take a more moderate approach by having the existing leadership begin to very strictly enforce rules to keep their cats in line. Halo, Command, would you be willing to have your characters removed from their positions or dramatically change their leadership style?

So, we need to decide how to stitch this all into a coherent plot and build a rough time-line for everything. As summer has started and most of our members will be on vacation, I expect a jump in activity over the next few months, so we should be keeping the plot moving fairly quickly to keep everything interesting, but still slowly enough to allow room for side plots.

Oh, yeah. We could keep the high ranks, but have him try to limit their power, possibly?

We could have some of the older, more experienced SunClan arriors disabled or killed to increase Darkstars paranoia? I know that SunClan numbers are low so thats why i put disabled in there as well.

I would add captured onto that list. If clans began kidnapping cats from other clans, for purposes of information gathering, message sending, or trying to weaken/threaten another clan, that would be sure to increase paranoia. High ranking warriors, kits, apprentices, or even Darkstar himself could be captured to lead to more paranoia and fear/distrust. This could apply to any clan.

Oooh, that's a good idea. We haven't had a bunch of prisoners in the past.

Ooh, yeah! We've never really had a plot in the time that I've been on the site that has been more focused on prisoners.

Maybe that'll give me something to do with the cats I've been thinking of offing or having leave. Hmm.... I will look through my cats, and, if we do end up doing this, I may have a list that can be prisoners. ;)

OK, IDEA TIME! So, with the spies, they could try to weaken the other clans, my idea, maybe tampering with prey, or even putting deathberries in there. Just a random thought that came from who knows where. I dont think Darkstar would do that, but maybe in his paranoia he tries to break down the other clans, using said deathberry tactics, forcing the clans to check thier food before they eat, or guard thier pile.

That seems like a tactic which Poppystar would use, or perhaps even Echostar, although I'm not completely sure of her current leanings.

We could actually have Seraphgaze and his followers secretly doing things like that, I don't think it would make sense for Echostar.

Ah, yes that would be far better for DawnClan.

Could we perhaps begin sending spies between clans, or at least collecting a list of volunteers for spying duties? How many spies should be sent per clan? Should all clans send/receive spies?

MoonClan will be starting the spying and I think we have a good way to start it right now: Sennagaze just found Stonepaw?s ?body? surrounded by NightClan and SunClan scents, with no other signs of a fight. That?s fishy enough that when Aspenstar finds out, he might want to send out the spies to find out what is going on. I can volunteer Cricketchaser to go to SunClan?

Yay! My idea for Stonepaw going wrong actually contributed to the plot. :D *does the happy dance*

Happy dance! xD
From moonclan, even though hes an apprentice, Sharp-paw could go. He'd happily go.

And maybe because hes an apprentice, he wouldnt be noticed as a threat, being a mere apprentice.

Sounds good! He most likely will not announce it to the clan, rather just send out certain warriors that he proves to be worthy and loyal. I have Snaketooth but I'll leave it to if others want a cat to be a spy, but Snaketooth will most likely be the reciever and travel to the territories after a certain about of days to get the information. He will probably send 2 to Sunclan and 2 to Nightclan. However, I may have him send spies to Dawnclan, knowing that he doesn't really like Echostar and would probably wonder why they weren't involved. Does this sound good? Cricketchaser and Sharp-paw can be two.

I think we should hold off on DawnClan, at least until the NightClan and SunClan spies report back for the first time and their success (they shouldn't be discovered yet) will give MoonClan the confidence to send more spies out, including spies to DawnClan.
