Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on February 28, 2016 at 6:40 PM

Now that the flooding arc has drawn to a close, it’s time to start considering where we want to carry the war from here. MoonClan and NightClan are loosely allied, as are SunClan and DawnClan, but where do we want the source of their next battle to come from?

We can continue to feed off of the assassin plot, possibly, if cats continue to go missing from border patrols and such, or we can start something new, possibly escalated border skirmishes, drama at a gathering, etc.

In the last plot planning page, we considered having apprentices continue meeting at the gathering clearing and eventually being found out by their leaders.

What do y’all think should happen?

Once the clans start thinking of war, then spies would be great, but for the time being I don't think that the leaders would want to risk driving their clans into conflict if the spies were discovered. But to conclude, I would definitely support espionage, and perhaps some counter-espionage. Actually, come to think of it, the discovery of one or more of these spies could be the final tipping point which sends the clans out of isolation and into war.

I like the idea of the spies. They can be sent in so that they can be used as plot devices later. Though, do we send them in after the clans have enforced stricter rules or now, while its a little easier but there is less motivation to do so? (Assuming that they get sent in the first place, of course.)

The spies would be sent in after isolation has been set in and the clans want to know if the others are starting to build alliance or otherwise becoming a threat.

Using the discovery of the spies as the tipping point for war would be great!

Could we also use the isolation to affect gatherings? Perhaps leaders stop sending all of their highest-ranking cats because they believe that the gathering will have negligible importance and they're suspicious of an attack on their camp while the gathering occurs?

Will the Medicine Cat meetings still happen? If not, we could say the clan had managed to send them into fear of being attacked at the Moonstone/Moonpool.

I don't think we'll be having any gatherings or medicine cat meetings.

Lionstar is going to be held by two legs for the next two weeks, so this is a good time to start some NightClan drama :) Some border skirmishes with NightClan that could possibly result in a battle might work.

If a battle does happen, NightClan could suffer a lot of losses/ injuries, which would encourage Lionstar to push the clan towards isolation to prevent any further losses.

Sneak and BleedingJay (who is very violent) can go hunting along the border and get into a skirmish, any nightclanners on that are a go?

I don't have many trouble making NightClanners at the moment, but Sennapaw and Dragonpaw are heading out toward Hawk's Tree.

Poppydeath could possibly panic under the weight of being temporary leader, thinking she will have to be in command forever, and become an evil tyrant that is unusually harsh? I don't know, just an idea, but she could make some new rules in NightClan that changes their lives until Lionstar returns, disways the new rules, and puts Poppy back into her place as deputy. And since Lion will be gone, Poppy will probably go and try to receive her lives. What shall I say happened, she didn't receive them because Lionstar is still alive and well?

I agree with the apprentices gathering together and meeting. The assassins is interesting in my opinion, but I think that should be saved for a different time.

@Floating- That sounds pretty good. Makes sense too.

I can't speak for Lionstar, but I don't think he'll let Poppydeath return to her deputy position after her tyrannical behavior. That aside, I think that that's an interesting little plot, Floating :)

It really depends on how it plays out. If Poppydeath is so tyrannical that she's absolutely hated by the clan, I doubt Lionstar would want to keep her, but if she didn't do anything too serious I doubt he'd care.

I feel like two leader's from each clan could fall in love and start a war with the clans
or we could do deputies
or Medicine cat

If I'm not mistaken, that general idea was used during an earlier plot, with Jetstar and Bluestar falling in love and strengthening the alliance between their clans. It's not exactly the same, but I'm not sure if it's different enough to warrant an entire plot.
