Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on February 28, 2016 at 6:40 PM

Now that the flooding arc has drawn to a close, it’s time to start considering where we want to carry the war from here. MoonClan and NightClan are loosely allied, as are SunClan and DawnClan, but where do we want the source of their next battle to come from?

We can continue to feed off of the assassin plot, possibly, if cats continue to go missing from border patrols and such, or we can start something new, possibly escalated border skirmishes, drama at a gathering, etc.

In the last plot planning page, we considered having apprentices continue meeting at the gathering clearing and eventually being found out by their leaders.

What do y’all think should happen?

The apprentices going to meet at the Gathering is also being spread around the clans. In roleplay, they've set it up for "in five days" but it can happen whenever is the most convenient for everyone. They will be leaving in the middle of the night in hopes that no one will notice they're gone.

Lion and I were discussing the possibility of possibly dissolving the alliances as a whole, to aid in the isolation plot line. SunClan and DawnClan's alliance has already been tested, while MoonClan and NightClan's leaders may clash a bit, so it shouldn't be too difficult to set up. What do y'all think?

DawnClan's been having a lot of unrest lately, what with Twigpaw's tantrum, the apprentices' invasion, and most recently, the fight between Locuststar, Cherryripple, and Sirensong. All of the battles have included Locuststar, as well as Echosong or Sirensong, all of whom are in positions of high power (Sirensong has power because of her close relationships with the other too.)

I'm not sure if that could be used for any interesting plot points, but it's there. Perhaps an attempted coup against the leadership? An excess of emigrants from the clan?

Ember and I were discussing the apprentice plot and thought it might be easier to just have different groups of apprentices continuously meeting up at the Gathering Clearing, rather than scheduling out specific meetings where most of them would be there. This would keep the warriors from discovering them quickly as they'd only be missing a couple apprentices at a time.

I support that. It also helps that the apprentices probably wouldn't be organized enough to get everyone out there at one time.

I really like the clans becoming isolated and the alliances dropping. After the whole barn scene, it would definitely help develop some patriotism.

Maybe one of the cats of one of the clans should end up convincing some other cats that they should have more territory. Border skirmishes could happen and such. But what cat would do the convincing and such? And which clan? This is just what I think

Perhaps, if the apprentice meeting plot goes on long enough, a few of the characters could form relationships, have kits, and attempt to raise the kits away from the four clans?

Okay so what are we doing? Are we continuing the assassins or are we doing apprentices meeting?

I think we're setting the assassin plot aside, and the apprentices will likely begin meeting at the Gathering Clearing after the botched attempt to allow them to travel between the clans.

Hm, having Locuststar overthrown could be an interesting plot point. Considering the amount of conflict surrounding him recently and his very un-DawnClan qualities, I know that a few of my characters would be eager to get him out of power. Would y?alls characters support it? This would be separate from the breaking of alliances, in some sense, but we can use events in the main arc to support the coup.
Yeah, we?re dropping the assassins plot from the overall storyline.
Border skirmishes are likely going to happen when we get the ball rolling with the clans starting to fight each other, sections of territory are pretty common bargaining tools in surrenders so I expect we?ll be seeing some areas tossed back and forth a few times.

Most of my DawnClan apprentices would probably support a coup, but it seems unlikely that most of the Dawnclanners would be driven to the point where they wanted to violently overthrow their leader. He hasn't gone around murdering his clan mates like Dawnswallow. Maybe there could be some peaceful resistance, in which the elders of the clans or the older cats decide to confront him, and they take a vote from the clan of whether or not they want him to remain in power.

I have a question about border skirmishes, since there isn't really a topic that is the border, how would you RP one?

@Halo I think we would just choose one territory or the other, and say that it's dipping into both sides. I doubt we'd have to be excessively accurate.

As for the potential coup, I know that I could add a character to that group. As for violence or non-violence, well, from the situations he's been a part of recently, I think that violence might come whether intended or not.

I can have both my characters support the overthrow.

As the coup currently stands it has been decided the overthrow will be made through a vote of whether Locuststar shall remain leader. After Locuststar loses the vote he will ask Dawnclan (Echosong in particular) if he'll be aloud to stay in his home as Locuststrike.
