Flood Arc Plot Planning II

Posted by Ember on January 1, 2016 at 3:10 PM

How long do y’all want the flooding to last?

We’re getting to the end of when the arc was scheduled to come to a close, but there’s been little conflict between the clans. What do you think we should be using as a source of tension (sickness, some planned conflicts between leaders and groups, maybe some skirmishes breaking out, etc.) or would you rather leave this arc as one that unifies the clans against, for instance, a drought?

Perhaps a Medicine cat could get murdered by the Assassins? Medicine cats are universally appreciated and revered, thus all of the leaders are obligated to get involved. This way, the presence of 'some cats within the clans murdering others on command' (it would seem that way to the Clan leaders, since killing a Medicine cat would be considered sabotage) is directly addressed and the ensuing blame-game between the clans and their leaders could help actively build up tension.

The leaders have just made nice with each other, so something like this would make all their plans to get along and work together turn to chaos. Members of each clan would also partake in the blaming game, the new patrol system that has just been set up would just cause skirmishes and shouting matches. The general air of mistrust between clan members would also help towards the chaos and tension goal, since everyone would know a group of unknowns commanded by another clan is murdering cats.

I'm not sure how this would tie into clan alliances, but it's quite dynamic. The clans and leaders would look for re-assurance and support from each other to regain some stability and lessen tensions. This could help create the alliances.

(Commandosaur has a suggestion is on the previous page :))

Indeed, a Medicine cat dying would be something to really get the leaders to notice. It's somewhat surprising that there haven't already been discussions about these assassinations - wouldn't a leader be worried to know that a cat has mysteriously disappeared without a trace, even if the leaders thought it was something completely separate from a group of assassins.

Perhaps, if a medicine cat were to be assassinated, they should be a member of NightClan? If I remember correctly, Poppydeath's original purpose in forming the assassins was to destroy NightClan, on the orders of Anarchy. Of course, I doubt that's what the other assassins think they're doing - Most of them sound like they've joined just for the thrill of killing, no matter which clan their victims are a member of.

(Thanks for noting that, Halo!)

The biggest issue with the medicine cat being assassinated is that someone would have to volunteer their character to die, and that's not something easily asked with a higher ranking character. If anyone volunteers for it, that's fine, but I don't think this idea should become so huge that someone feels pressured into offering their character to be killed.

Agreed, no one should be pressured into it.

The assassination groups splitting would cause them to be louder and more obvious, if they?re what starts the war, that shift can cause it.
My main reason for dividing the clans SunDawn, MoonNight is just because that?s an arrangement we?ve only had once or twice before, and only for brief periods of time. MoonClan and NightClan have a history of being at each other?s throats, while SunClan and DawnClan while switch between the sides depending on the specific situation.
However, I do agree that it makes somewhat more sense for NightClan and MoonClan to be against each other, seeing as they have assassins on either side and do have that history. Either way could work, but I think that the friendship between MC and NC is enough that we can push it that direction without making it seem forced.
What do the rest of y?all think?
Ooh, I do like the idea with the medicine cats. That would certainly draw in a lot of conflict. Does anyone have a medicine cat they?re willing to sacrifice?

I feel like splitting NightClan and MoonClan would focus the plot solely on those two clans, and that's what we were trying to avoid with this plot. Although with the assassin plot the overall focus seems to be swinging back towards them anyway.

NightClan and MoonClan have a solid friendship. I don't see that ending any time during Geckostar's rule.

Hmm. Since Dewsong is not a Medicine Cat anymore, would it still be dramatic enough?

I never saw the DawnClan Head Warriors announced, could someone confirm that they were announced?

since geckostar/spots(?) has just stepped down to raise her kits then retire, what happens between moonclan and nightclan is now in the hands (or paws) or rosedapple and coldstar. which could be interesting to see a shift in mc and nc relationship, if there is a big one

Since no one?s volunteered their medicine cat, I doubt we can go ahead with that plan. It?s been a while since Dewsong was a medicine cat, I don?t think it would have the same shock factor.

I don?t know if the DC head warriors were announced in the rp or not, but either way we should go ahead and act like they were.

I think what their relationship will be like really depends on how the characters act toward each other, I can?t say since they?re not my characters, but so much of that tends to go with situation. I think we should let it develop more naturally and see where it goes.

Unfortunate but understandable all the same. Rosedapple and Coldstar will be interesting, on that note, how will Rosedapple get her lives? Or will we have to wait until the clans return?

theyre really far away from the moonstone at the barn, so rosedapple would have to be away from the clan for a while to get there safely and get her name and lives, but if they wait until they return to camp, that could be a short while with the clans leader only having one life... dangerous either way. v sticky situation...

We don?t have an absolute date set, but I want to make sure that we get the clans back to their homes before the end of the month. For that to happen, we need to be on the ball with the assassin plot.

Rosedapple could possibly go with the medicine cat meeting next week so it?ll be a little more safe.

Hey guys! There are plans for the assassin arc to really go into full swing this weekend, beginning with Lilywish's death being revealed to the clans. To bring this arc to a clean ending, it would be great if you helped us move that along by having your characters react to what's happening in regard to the overarching plot and starting conflict between the clans, as defined by the planned alliances (SC/DC, MC/NC).

I have an idea
I have a cat called Keiko who was a part of the gang that took the couple of apprentinces. Me and @Venom were about to reveal him as being sheltered in NightClan so we could make some tension with that, and since Nightclan will obviously defend its member, Moonclan could say that Starclans will was to give everyone a chance to right their path [Keiko joining a clan and abandoning his past] and side with Nightclan, and Sc/Dc could be opposed to having this cat in their barn out of fear the gang might return. Just an idea. [I had to copy/paste for Willow]
