Flood Arc Plot Planning II

Posted by Ember on January 1, 2016 at 3:10 PM

How long do y’all want the flooding to last?

We’re getting to the end of when the arc was scheduled to come to a close, but there’s been little conflict between the clans. What do you think we should be using as a source of tension (sickness, some planned conflicts between leaders and groups, maybe some skirmishes breaking out, etc.) or would you rather leave this arc as one that unifies the clans against, for instance, a drought?

Final Head Warrior assignments!
MoonClan: Lunardemise (Halo) and Aspenstride (Spicy)
NightClan: Blazingsoul (Anarchy) and Rubyflame (Venom)
DawnClan: Frozencross (Commandosaur) and Seraphgaze (Twin)
SunClan: Sorrelspot (Evening), Yuccathorn (Ember), and Jaggedface

There's a chance that may happen, but I don't want to make any promises about deputy positions too far in advance.

So, me and Ember were talking in a PM about Scarletdeath. She's stepping down from being Deputy, as you know, but I'm 'in the running' for candidate owning the next DC Deputy. This is because the owner of the former Deputy, Wolf-flower, is leaving the site. I was speaking to Ember about Dewsong being the next Deputy. I thought it'd be interesting, since she's a Medicine Cat-turned-Warrior. But since the Medicine Cat uprising was so close, we decided to discuss it here for your input. It would be exciting, definitely, but would it be realistic?

I think that plan for the assassin plot would work great, especially if we don?t have all of them uncovered so we can use it as a way to start some conflict later on if we need something. That?s way in the future and may not come up at all, but it would be a nice plot point to have if needed.
However, instead of having the assassins grow to two large groups and having a battle break out between them, we could have SunClan accuse NightClan for allowing the assassinations to happen. The SunClanners could then try and force NightClan to leave, despite the flooding having largely been frozen in place. Tensions could rise as NightClan holds their ground and MoonClan comes to their defense, while DawnClan supports SunClan, and a battle could possibly break out?
Where are y?all on the assassin arc right now?

I like Ember's latest idea for the assassin arc. I don't believe the assassins should be split into two large groups that end up fighting each other, I think it takes too much focus off of the clans to have the main conflict erupting between two independent groups.

About Dewsong being appointed deputy, I think it should be up to Locuststar and whether or not he'd ever appoint a former medicine cat to such a position.

I like Ember's idea too.

I also agree with Lion, the decision would be Locuststar's.

Yes, I think that your idea would be better if we were to include all of the clans, @Ember. It was originally supposed to be a small side plot, but it grew too much.

Currently, we have killed a few cats. Normally, at the current moment, Khan would probably start the separation process, but I'm not sure if we're still doing that? What will be going on with the assassins while the clans are fighting? Should they continue to kill cats, but the order of ruling get chaotic?

Okay, so if Lily doesn't answer soon, I can ask her.

Okay, so Dewsong will be the new Deputy?

@Queen You should ask Henry if it's alright, since Locuststar is the one who has to justify it.

Fang, I had SunClan supported by DawnClan and NightClan supported by MoonClan. What way do you suggest for more directly including all four of the clans?

Having them split up is still in the plan. When the clans are fighthing, the assassin groups could try to cling on, but I imagine their leadership will be shaky and several assassins may jump ship.

Oh, NOW I realize! I was thinking Lily owns Locuststar, but she owns Coldstar DX

Queen, it'd be very unrealistic to have Dewsong be made Deputy by Locuststar.

I knew, but for some reason, I thought you owned Locuststar too.

I know, I read about his disliking for Medicine Cats awhile ago. I just thought I might as well try, but anyway, I made Auburndream.

@Ember Ah alright, I see. I think that the DawnSun and Nightmoon makes sense, seeing as the main assassins are Nightclan and Moonclan cats. I'm not sure if there's that much of a better way to involve them all, but if I think of an idea I'll post it here. However, I do suggest that we start the assassin separation groups first before the beginnings of war start

What if the Clan pairings were SunMoon and NightDawn? To have one of the main assassin-clans (Night and Moon) on either side of the war would provide either an easy way to end the arc once the clans realize that the assassins were not tied to any one clan, or for that matter, more closely tied to any one alliance in the war. It also appears that SunClan and MoonClan have been collaborating quite a bit with the task of forming joint-patrols, while NightClan has a link to DawnClan through this new... I'm not sure what the arc is being called, so I'll call it the Sirensong arc (Locuststar was interested in seeing the safe return of Sirensong, Nightclan facilitated that return). As well, separating the clans from which the main assassins originate could produce a plot point wherein honourable members of both sides could "hire" the assassins to work for their clan - without the leader/deputy knowing, of course (Or perhaps they would know?). Meanwhile, if those two clans are on the same side, the assassins would be mostly assisting one side, and that could potentially nullify arguments that NightClan/MoonClan is not responsible for the assassinations.

That being said, it is obvious that the strongest ties between clan-leadership are those which connect the Moon and Night Clans, specifically the connection between Liondance and Geckostar (From what I've seen, they have a good friendship). That in itself could be enough for me to support MoonNight, but it would also be interesting to read of the moral dilemma produced from the kits of the MoonClan leader having been fathered by the deputy of an opposing Clan.

Well, enough rambling. If I put more effort into this I'm sure I could realize of ways in which this might not work, but if any one else wants to pick it apart, please do so!
