Flood Arc Plot Planning II

Posted by Ember on January 1, 2016 at 3:10 PM

How long do y’all want the flooding to last?

We’re getting to the end of when the arc was scheduled to come to a close, but there’s been little conflict between the clans. What do you think we should be using as a source of tension (sickness, some planned conflicts between leaders and groups, maybe some skirmishes breaking out, etc.) or would you rather leave this arc as one that unifies the clans against, for instance, a drought?

I'd prefer Ember's idea. Aren't the leaders supposed to be meeting soon any way? They could discuss the new designations there.

I may be the odd man out when I say this but we should focus more on a short term investment into this current plot arc rather than long term. Although I feel that yes it has been quite eventful and interesting for cats from other clans to interact with each other and all but truth be told not much can evolve from it besides interrelationships which so far we've done quite well, but if we continue to carry it out for much longer the moment will feel more and more watered down. I'd prefer to start going through the aftermath of the flood and how the clans are going to rebuild their ruined homes and if they'll be able to overcome the identity crisis that would follow suit especially when Leaf-bare is just around the corner. I originally thought that this arc was supposed to be a mini one to merely build up tension for a much larger arc but it seems that is no longer the case which is disapointing to say the least. I know most will disagree with me on this and that is quite alright but what lies beyond the horizon is better rp opportunity than having cats figure out how they're going to live in a barn together for the next three moons.

I don't think we should kill the flooding plot too quickly after just coming up with a few cohesive ideas of how to make it more of a site-wide plot that many members can participate in. Sending all of the clans back to their camps would hinder the ability of members who do not have high ranking characters to play any major roles in the plot. Right now, with the assassins, the idea of organizing patrols, and "head warriors" there's far more room for different members to play important parts.

The assassins, other extreme factions, and the strain of the sickness allows the opportunity for the clans to develop feuds with each other that will carry into the next plot. Without them, the only thing we have to fuel any conflicts with would be the identity issues, and that's not really something worth starting a war over.

This plot's gotten off to a slower start than planned, we haven't had any of the conflicts I was expecting would naturally occur without any planning.
I do agree that we need to get moving faster, though, and that this plot shouldn't span over months. How about we have a sort of gathering this weekend for everyone to get organized with the new rules and positions?

I'm so sorry for the inactivity and late reply to this, fellow members! I agree and approve all the ideas getting tossed around, and will do whatever gets chosen. Sorry for the assassin plot coming to a halt while I was gone, but we can continue it if yu would like, Ember.

I really like the idea of new positions and uniting the site with more opportunities and plots. A lot of members will enjoy this, definitely.

I'm in agreement with ember for sure, should be interesting. Then again, I'm always like let's go for it when it comes to plot. Also I have an idea. Maybe the head warriors could find a dead body or two that the assassins kilied and invistighte but come up empty?

i agree with embers ideas. also, as i had geckostar mention the other day, with winter comes ice, so the water keeping cats out of their territories would freeze and allow access back into territories, and the water would eventually melt and evaporate away s spring and summer came. so there is a chance of having the plot start to wrap up in the next month, as i do think having it go too much longer would become even messier and all.

Having a patrol (not necessarily head warriors, though) happen upon a dead body from the assassination plot could help tie things together nicely.

Ooh, having the floodwaters freeze over would help provide in-character reason for why this arc is lasting water longer than expected.

Hey y?all! This plot?s gotten off to a rocky start and as I?ve been putting together head warrior positions, it?s becoming pretty clear there?s a lot of confusion about what?s exactly planned events are and how they fit together. Hopefully this helps clears things up!

Most of these events are flexible and can be altered as we see fit :)

The clans have been flooded into the barn for the past month; a small bit of trouble was stirred up between NightClan and SunClan, but largely has settled down. Green-cough began to surge through the clans, particularly affecting kits and elders. In response, the medicine cats held a meeting where they discussed how to treat this illness despite not having any herbs already stored or available to gather, and decided to focus on preventing the spread of the disease by quarantining the sick kits. Most of the roleplaying with sick characters has been done in the Tack Room and Storage Thread, to keep everything organized we should move the rest of the sick characters there and avoid playing unrelated scenes in that thread, particularly involving healthy kits.

This coming weekend, there will be a gathering in which the leaders discuss ways to ensure the clans remain functional during the time they spend in the barn. Tasks that have been neglected include training apprentices, sending out regular patrols, distributing prey, etc. The conclusion the leaders will come to is that the clans must begin to work together in order to make it through the months, especially as Leaf-Bare is around the corner and they will be frozen into this new home.

All of the queens will raise their litters together and alternate between caring for sick and healthy kits, which will be kept in separate areas and threads (possibly Tack Room and Storage for the sick kits and Stall One for healthy kits). Organized patrols will have to be at least three cats strong and represent at least two clans, however, patrols ideally will have four or more cats representing every clan so patrols have balanced skills. Naturally, as patrols are more integrated, apprentice training will fall between cats of different clans. Organized training sessions could also be held with groups of apprentices of different clans to practice basic skills such as hunting crouches.

Each clan will be given two/three ?Head Warriors? who will aid with organization and stand in for deputies and leaders if neither is available and a high ranking character is needed. Head Warrior position offers were sent out to a handful of active, rule-following members who don?t currently have another highranking member and I hope to have assignments posted by tomorrow afternoon.

This plot should ideally be wrapping up by the end of February, but we need to be proactive in making it work. We should have tensions build by then large enough to Segway into our next arc, both between clans as they clash while interacting so closely, in within clans as questions of loyalty and identity arise. For this to work we need as many members on board as possible actively pushing these ideas into their roleplay, we need start and escalate conflicts as well as having our characters question their former ideas about clan identity and what degree of interaction between the clans is appropriate. As well, we need to be certain that all cats are working together in the ways the leaders decide upon (the queens working together to raise kits, more organized and integrated patrols, etc.) and are forming plenty of meaningful cross-clan relationships.

In addition, leaderships will be shifting in NightClan and DawnClan as Sacredtears and Scarletdeath leave their positions.

An assassination plot has been loosely planned, potentially stemming from NightClanners attempts to reassert their clan identity, but the details of this have yet to be discussed on this thread. We can begin the assassination plot toward the end of the arc, possibly, and have the discovery of a body force SunClan to send the other clans (or possibly just one or two of them) out of their territory before floodwaters have completely receded, which could be the last straw in starting our first large-scale battle and the starting place of our next arc.

The assassination plot so far is that;

Poppydeath and the rest of the cats will all join together first, and probably figure out who kills which cats and such. Later on, Khan begins to disagree with Poppydeath's methods of assassination and her rules, so he starts rebelling with one or two of the other assassins until they are either kicked out or they leave. Khan and the assassins that left with him will form a seperate group from Poppydeath's and start gathering cats so that he can "dominate" Poppydeath's group. He plans to keep their loyalty by killing the cats that the cats he has just gathered want dead.

Poppydeath's group begins to gather followers as well, most of them probably being just admirers or such. I forget the members of the assassin squad, but two original assassins should go with Poppydeath, and two originals should go with Khan. I believe Runningwish has two characters in this, so she should probably have one on Khan's side and the other on Poppydeath's side. Yusshou, who figures out the whole 'gathering followers and beat the other group' idea and dislikes the idea of giving favors and being social, does not choose a group and stays seperate.

Khan and Poppydeath, knowing that Yusshou is talented, and that having the one last original member join their side would give them an advantage, begin singling her out and trying to recruit her. Khan would even try and use their blood relationship to try and recruit her. After a while, when Yusshou continues to refuse both of them, they begin trying to blackmail her and threaten her into joining their group. This goes on for a while, and while the groups get slightly bigger, they shouldn't be very much at all.

Eventually, Yusshou gets very frustrated and annoyed, and even knowing the risks, she tells the clan leaders or something about Khan and Poppydeath's groups, members, plans, everything. It's up to the people who roleplay the cats in each group do decide if they want to kill that character, or leave the clans, or perhaps be able to be left in the clans although that would be a really exceptional case. This brings the downfall of the assassins as they will be singled out to be hunted down and brought to trial and maybe killed.

Some Side Notes

Depending on the leaders' personalities, I was thinking that maybe after all of this has happened and the groups have been brought to an end, one of them could question Yusshou about how she knew about all of this, and one jumped to conclusions, sending a warrior or perhaps themselves to try and kill her. However, if it was the leader themselves, Yusshou would take a life in self-defense, but get killed in the process. If it was a warrior, Yusshou would just kill them-self defense maybe- and I think that that'd be a great problem causer because they could debate that she could have used mercy but she didn't and such.
Also, for the seperate groups, I don't think too many new cats should join and that there shouldn't be very many killings unless it is a request and someone wants to kill off a character since that would make it seem slightly unrealistic because although it could happen, having two very large organizations killing very often right under the noses of authority going undiscovered is a bit like powerplaying if that is the term.

This was how Runningwish., Chibi-chan, Riversoul, Lilywish, Blossom and I planned it, but I'm sure we can make changes to it, as it probably has many flaws.

ALSO

If a large scale battle is wanted, then we would change the part about not many cats joining, instead having a lot of cats joining both groups, so when everyone is found out, the clans would attack while the groups actually fight back and have a chance at winning because of their numbers, and it could be an all out war. We could also make it more interesting by having some group members target the other group members and not the clans, to make it more chaotic and hectic by having a three-side war.

Are we instilling head warriors now or are we waiting till after the flood arc?

I believe the Head Warriors are being created specifically for the Flood Arc. They're meant to provide extra organization while there are so many problems preoccupying the high-ranking cats.

That being said, I don't think they're meant to take their positions until after the pseudo-meeting of the leaders.

Commandosaur?s right, they will only be in authority until the clans return to their homes and will be announced in-game during the meeting :)

One more last head warrior for NightClan: Mintvenom (Sabertooth)

An idea, what if when a leader dies or steps down and the deputy steps up to become leader, the deputy chooses one of the head warriors to be the new deputy.

Just a thought.
