Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on September 1, 2015 at 8:10 PM

Clawtail and Dawnswallow have begun killing off opposition by using foxglove seeds and claiming that StarClan is striking down the nonbelievers within their ranks. This will lead to their downfall when Clawtail’s infatuation with Weepingtiger leads her to reveal the plot and pin all responsibility for the deaths, and particularly one involving a cat the clan as a whole was fond of, on her mentor when she catches wind of Dawnswallow’s love for Weepingtiger.

Around this time in MoonClan, Fernwillow and Weepingtiger will come into conflict sparking violence between the moderates and extremists in the camp. In fight, Lashclaw will attack and almost kill Tigerpaw, a strong believer in StarClan, and Pricklekit, who has no faiththis  in StarClan. Lashclaw will be executed for his actions and Weepingtiger will declare that any heresy or rebellion within the camp will result in the same fate. Tigerpaw and Pricklekit will both begin to recover, but Weepingtiger will poison Tigerpaw with deathberries before his recovery sparks doubts within the clan. Pricklekit’s death and Tigerpaw’s survival will be held up as proof of StarClan’s existence and as a way to enforce extreme faith in StarClan throughout MoonClan.

Fernwillow, already upset with Weepingtiger because of their earlier conflict, will become suspicious and confront Weepingtiger. He will tell her the entire truth, expecting her to have the same blind faith in him as her other clanmates. However, she reveals what he did publicly, and forces him to flee to DawnClan.

This will result in both Dawnswallow and Weepingtiger being out of power, and the medicine cat apprentices left with fragmented support among their ranks. In MoonClan, it’s likely that there will be some internal violence between strong believers, possibly led by Clawtail, and non-believers or believers in the traditional clan structure, possibly led by Amberstrike and Geckospots.

DawnClan may be left in a less volatile situation, as they have been more moderate from the beginning. They could agree to step out of the war and return SunClan’s kits, maybe Clawtail could stay in some position of leadership as DawnClan makes a transition back to the traditional structure. However, she might have to step down from the medicine cat position when things have settled, either to being a warrior, leaving the clans, whatever feels the most appropriate.

Between the loss of MoonClan’s allies and their internal conflict, NightClan and SunClan could be able to mount a successful attack on MoonClan to win back the apprentices that had been taken. This would bring the war to an end without ending the plot entirely, new leaderships will need to be established in DawnClan and MoonClan.

So, what do y’all think should happen? I think it would be a good idea for us focus on the internal conflict in MoonClan and decide how we want to begin all of that, and I’d like to hear your opinions on DawnClan’s downfall. The fates of Weepingtiger and Dawnswallow seem pretty much settled, but everything that happens after or as a result of that is still completely up in the air. As well as that, we should decide on what’s going to be happening in SunClan and NightClan through all of this. In the last blog entry there was some support for having a SunClan-centered plot next since they have been on the edges of the main plot for a while, we can begin to set things up for them to be in an important role later on.

@Nighting probably sometime this weekend? Or maybe the next? I don't think it should be pushed off any further than that. Fernwillow has already been there for a while so I think it could happen at any time now.

The only thing I can think of happening in the gathering is shock over Weepingtiger's position, and that may work out better if SC and NC find out after the fact.
Having the rebellions this weekend sounds great.

I'm game for this weekend! Although, Amberstrike is going to have to leave Nightkit alone in the nursery, unless Ash-heart is taking care of her...

Do you think we should have each rebellion on separate weekends? It would give DawnClan time to stabilize a bit and actually have the control to send out some warriors with Fernwillow and Amberstrike to help the attack on MoonClan. Also, I feel like the rp's will be rushed and chaotic if we try to complete two rebellions in just two days. It'd be nice if complete attention could be focused on each Clan during their own rebellions, rather splitting it between the two.

Yeah, that makes much more sense. :D

Rebellion this weekend? Got it. Can someone with experience on having cats give fancy speeches help me figure out Clawtail's when she condemns Dawnswallow?
And what do y'all think should happen to Claw? I'm thinking along the lines of having her commit suicide in a dramatic way after she makes sure Dawnclan is stable.
And, this is a bit late, but what if Moonclan changes it's name because they don't want to be named for a symbol of Starclan after Weepingstar's rule ends, and they lose their position as the most Starclan-oriented clan?

Well... Amberstrike and Geckospots are both firm believers in StarClan, and their going to be the new deputy and leader (respectively), so I don't think that would happen.

with geckospots' rule will come acceptance, so she would be fine with non-believers in the clan. to each their own

But, that would not constitute changing the name of the Clan. After all, MoonClan is not named for the moon, it is named for its first leader, Moonstar.

I agree that the rebellions shouldn't overlap. DawnClan's should definetly be first, having MoonClan after a week or two would work out best.
I would prefer if MoonClan (or any of the clans, for that matter) didn't change their name. To match the theme, the change would be to DuskClan, and then we'd be a bit stuck if we ever decided to add a fifth clan. As well as that, with what Amberstrike pointed out, it doesn't make sense. Moonstar gave them the original code, which is what they would be returning to. If the name was going to change, it would have changed over Weepingtiger's rule and then been changed back with the rebellion.

So, during the rebellion, is someone going to ambush and catnap Eclipse?Or would it just be her fighting for Weepingtiger (still clueless.....) and then after Weepingtiger's defeat held for trial?Or something else?

I'm sorry for my inactivity

All right! I've got an idea for what could happen with all of the zealots after the rebellion so we don't have some awkward shift where they're instantly forgiven and forgotten about, but where all of them don't have to be executed or driven out.

After the battle, all the zealots can be held as prisoners in the prison, and they will undergo a sort of trial for various war crimes. There are a couple ways that I've thought of that this could happen, but they're all rather shaky and will have some issues, mainly with everyone being on at the same time.

The first way and the messiest is that we use the next Gathering as the trial period. The four leaders can all come together and decide what the fate of each cat will be. So that everyone doesn't have to be on at the time of this, we can decide on punishments for each character before the actual trial, and then it's just up to the leaders to all be on at the same time to pass judgement on the cats and come to an agreement on each. Although this would be extremely difficult to pull off and is probably the most unlikely of the options, it would bring the leaders of each clan closer together, making them more likely to trust each other when the natural disaster that drives them from the current territory hits.

The second way is the medicine cats are given the duty of deciding the fate of each cat. This can be done at the next medicine cat meeting. The MoonClan medicine cats are the ones responsible for remembering all of the zealots and their various crimes. Once again, a list of punishments would be made before the actual meeting, making it easier to get through all of the zealots. This gives the medicine cats something important to do at their next meeting, and can help restore them to their old image of impartial peacekeepers.

The third and one of the easiest ways is roughly the same as the second. The medicine cats decide at the next medicine cat meeting, but they devise a general punishment for each general crime. For example, if the zealot murdered someone (outside of the battle between the rebels and zealots) they are banished/ executed. This format does not take the age and circumstances into account, but only requires a list of crimes be made ahead of time, rather than crimes and punishments.

The fourth and easiest way is based along the same lines as the previous two, but instead of deciding on punishments for the zealots, the medicine cats decide to blanket pardon all crimes and allow the zealots to start over and hopefully become functioning and loyal members of the clan. This could be on the basis that enough blood has already been spilled and there is no reason to cause more strife. This is probably the most medicine cat- like thing to do, but it would likely be a controversial decision.

A faster way to deal with the zealots that doesn't involve the gathering of any cats could be just to mark each of them, strip some of their rights from them (perhaps even make them lower than or equal to apprentices in clan status), and make it impossible for them to ever hold a position of authority in the clan.

I personally feel that the fourth would fit Amberstrike and Geckospots' personalities better. After all, Amberstrike has always been trying to find a way to end the bloodshed... But, that's just my opinion.

I dont think anyone that had loveones killed would just let it blow over, so I choose one.

I feel like the first one could be cool and would help transition into the next arc, but organizing all of it and making sure that everyone is online at the same time could be very difficult. The plot would be clogged up for a while as we sorted through individual punishments for each character.
For the second and third ideas, I?m not sure if the clans will want to put any power with the medicine cats at this point? Particularly in MoonClan, where they will be supporting Weepingtiger. I like the third idea more than the second, as it would just be easier to pull off with the number of people involved.
I think the fourth idea seems a bit too soft, while it would be very medicine-cat like to do and would make moving on to a different arc easier, I think it doesn?t make sense with this current plot.

We could possibly merge ideas one and three and have the leaders decide on a general punishment for each general crime?
