Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on September 1, 2015 at 8:10 PM

Clawtail and Dawnswallow have begun killing off opposition by using foxglove seeds and claiming that StarClan is striking down the nonbelievers within their ranks. This will lead to their downfall when Clawtail’s infatuation with Weepingtiger leads her to reveal the plot and pin all responsibility for the deaths, and particularly one involving a cat the clan as a whole was fond of, on her mentor when she catches wind of Dawnswallow’s love for Weepingtiger.

Around this time in MoonClan, Fernwillow and Weepingtiger will come into conflict sparking violence between the moderates and extremists in the camp. In fight, Lashclaw will attack and almost kill Tigerpaw, a strong believer in StarClan, and Pricklekit, who has no faiththis  in StarClan. Lashclaw will be executed for his actions and Weepingtiger will declare that any heresy or rebellion within the camp will result in the same fate. Tigerpaw and Pricklekit will both begin to recover, but Weepingtiger will poison Tigerpaw with deathberries before his recovery sparks doubts within the clan. Pricklekit’s death and Tigerpaw’s survival will be held up as proof of StarClan’s existence and as a way to enforce extreme faith in StarClan throughout MoonClan.

Fernwillow, already upset with Weepingtiger because of their earlier conflict, will become suspicious and confront Weepingtiger. He will tell her the entire truth, expecting her to have the same blind faith in him as her other clanmates. However, she reveals what he did publicly, and forces him to flee to DawnClan.

This will result in both Dawnswallow and Weepingtiger being out of power, and the medicine cat apprentices left with fragmented support among their ranks. In MoonClan, it’s likely that there will be some internal violence between strong believers, possibly led by Clawtail, and non-believers or believers in the traditional clan structure, possibly led by Amberstrike and Geckospots.

DawnClan may be left in a less volatile situation, as they have been more moderate from the beginning. They could agree to step out of the war and return SunClan’s kits, maybe Clawtail could stay in some position of leadership as DawnClan makes a transition back to the traditional structure. However, she might have to step down from the medicine cat position when things have settled, either to being a warrior, leaving the clans, whatever feels the most appropriate.

Between the loss of MoonClan’s allies and their internal conflict, NightClan and SunClan could be able to mount a successful attack on MoonClan to win back the apprentices that had been taken. This would bring the war to an end without ending the plot entirely, new leaderships will need to be established in DawnClan and MoonClan.

So, what do y’all think should happen? I think it would be a good idea for us focus on the internal conflict in MoonClan and decide how we want to begin all of that, and I’d like to hear your opinions on DawnClan’s downfall. The fates of Weepingtiger and Dawnswallow seem pretty much settled, but everything that happens after or as a result of that is still completely up in the air. As well as that, we should decide on what’s going to be happening in SunClan and NightClan through all of this. In the last blog entry there was some support for having a SunClan-centered plot next since they have been on the edges of the main plot for a while, we can begin to set things up for them to be in an important role later on.

That's an interesting plan, Riversoul :) It'd be fun to play that one out. And if you could let Bluepaw be cruelly murdered by psycho cats, that'd be lovely!

So, you pretty much need to have him bad mouth Starclan or do something not very nice in front of Clawtail or Dawnswallow. It could also work if he did it in front of another cat, maybe one who doesn't like him, who could report him and exaggerate what he said to Clawtail and Dawnswallow.

I can offer both Ragingwar and Kestrelflight for the murders. Ragingwar could be getting too suspicious about Dyingembers death and accuse the medicine cats of killing him in private. And Kestrelflight can be killed just because Clawtail doesn't like her. (I gave up on trying to devise a sinister plot for Kestrel anyway xD)

I have an idea for how to start the NC MC alliance. After DC and SC drop out of the war and things continue to worsen in MoonClan, the rebels realize that they have to make a move soon, but they don't have the numbers for a guaranteed win, so they go to NightClan and request their assistance in tearing down the current leaders and all their fanatics. This gives NightClan a chance for revenge, as they'll be able to execute Weepingtiger and all of his extremely loyal followers (based on the severity of their crimes of course)

Up to you guys, since Exlipsestar will stay loyal to the medicine cats' cause-and maybe Harmonysong will try to convince her, but she will stay loyal, would it be better for the plot for her to be killed by the Rebel Alliance or be forgiven, return the stolen kits, and try to work out a mutual agreement with Coldstar, and maybe lose a few lives as penalty? In the second, she'd have to regain the trust of the Moonclan cats as well as the other clans as well. I prefer the second option, but since she is my character, that is probably biased.

I'm not sure how much of a leader Amberstrike could be, due to her currently being in the nursery with kits. It could be possible that Geckospots lead the rebellion, though. However, other leaders could easily step forward... If it's necessary, Amberstrike would probably ask another queen to take care of the kits if she's to lead the rebels, but... unless that happens, she would not be a candidate.

You can add Ripplesong and Haretail to the list :) Maybe in the history we could call this, " The Dawnclan Massacre"

Angel, I?m hesitant to go against the aging system. Lichenstone was never formally put in the deputy position, he was just claiming to be helping Wildstar keep order over the camp as an elder.
Riversoul, that?s a really cool idea! However, I?d prefer that we avoid plots that would lead to a change in structure to the clans themselves or outside groups of cats. The idea of having the clans temporarily pushed out of their territories has promise though, especially if we decide to go with an arc that would cause the clans to actually work together for a time. Perhaps the river could flood, or something else could happen that might force them to live in a new area for a bit?
Angel, that could work. Quickstar is so committed to the idea of a DawnClan alliance and SunClan generally doesn?t want to be involved, and DawnClan maybe would still be having too much trouble in their own clan to want to step in and deal with another clan?s issues, so it would work out that they wouldn?t want to step in again, even to help bring down the MC medicine cats.
Amberstrike, it?s up to you, but for the first parts of the rebellion it will be centered in recruiting cats and when the fighting breaks out, all the cats in the clan will be involved. So it is possible that a nursing queen would be able to play a large role in the plot, in fact I think it would be really interesting. However, I understand if you?d like to have her focusing on her kits.
Hickory, I usually only list new chapters when we have defined starts and beginnings of wars, but if the section gets too long I?ll see if that header would fit in nicely. It does sound pretty cool.

Hmm... alright, Ember. If it's alright with everyone, I'd like to give Amberstrike a shot at taking a big role in the rebellion. I think she's got her heart in the right place, seeing how, against the code itself, she's loyal to MoonClan itself before MoonClan's leader. This drives her to protect the whole of the Clan, rather than favoring the leader's protection.
