Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on September 1, 2015 at 8:10 PM

Clawtail and Dawnswallow have begun killing off opposition by using foxglove seeds and claiming that StarClan is striking down the nonbelievers within their ranks. This will lead to their downfall when Clawtail’s infatuation with Weepingtiger leads her to reveal the plot and pin all responsibility for the deaths, and particularly one involving a cat the clan as a whole was fond of, on her mentor when she catches wind of Dawnswallow’s love for Weepingtiger.

Around this time in MoonClan, Fernwillow and Weepingtiger will come into conflict sparking violence between the moderates and extremists in the camp. In fight, Lashclaw will attack and almost kill Tigerpaw, a strong believer in StarClan, and Pricklekit, who has no faiththis  in StarClan. Lashclaw will be executed for his actions and Weepingtiger will declare that any heresy or rebellion within the camp will result in the same fate. Tigerpaw and Pricklekit will both begin to recover, but Weepingtiger will poison Tigerpaw with deathberries before his recovery sparks doubts within the clan. Pricklekit’s death and Tigerpaw’s survival will be held up as proof of StarClan’s existence and as a way to enforce extreme faith in StarClan throughout MoonClan.

Fernwillow, already upset with Weepingtiger because of their earlier conflict, will become suspicious and confront Weepingtiger. He will tell her the entire truth, expecting her to have the same blind faith in him as her other clanmates. However, she reveals what he did publicly, and forces him to flee to DawnClan.

This will result in both Dawnswallow and Weepingtiger being out of power, and the medicine cat apprentices left with fragmented support among their ranks. In MoonClan, it’s likely that there will be some internal violence between strong believers, possibly led by Clawtail, and non-believers or believers in the traditional clan structure, possibly led by Amberstrike and Geckospots.

DawnClan may be left in a less volatile situation, as they have been more moderate from the beginning. They could agree to step out of the war and return SunClan’s kits, maybe Clawtail could stay in some position of leadership as DawnClan makes a transition back to the traditional structure. However, she might have to step down from the medicine cat position when things have settled, either to being a warrior, leaving the clans, whatever feels the most appropriate.

Between the loss of MoonClan’s allies and their internal conflict, NightClan and SunClan could be able to mount a successful attack on MoonClan to win back the apprentices that had been taken. This would bring the war to an end without ending the plot entirely, new leaderships will need to be established in DawnClan and MoonClan.

So, what do y’all think should happen? I think it would be a good idea for us focus on the internal conflict in MoonClan and decide how we want to begin all of that, and I’d like to hear your opinions on DawnClan’s downfall. The fates of Weepingtiger and Dawnswallow seem pretty much settled, but everything that happens after or as a result of that is still completely up in the air. As well as that, we should decide on what’s going to be happening in SunClan and NightClan through all of this. In the last blog entry there was some support for having a SunClan-centered plot next since they have been on the edges of the main plot for a while, we can begin to set things up for them to be in an important role later on.

I'm just worried about getting through all of it at the Gathering with the first idea. We have enough trouble getting everyone on just to give a general description of what's been going on in each clan.

Well, all the other options seem to have the medicine cats deciding. Why not have the leaders decide, without it happening at a gathering? That would establish the leaders' power, without the hassle of organizing a super-important gathering.

i vote four. it suits how geckospots would think, as well as amberstrike, and it seems the more honorable way to go about things. though i feel maybe there could be a combo of the forgiving and some punishment, like apprentice duties, so that they dont get off completely free of punishment.

I think letting the leaders decide what should happen to them would be a much better option than letting the Medicine Cats decide. It also doesn't make much sense that a punishment for murder of your own clanmates would be to just simply undermine their gravitas.

I agree with Amber and Henry, so Vote 1. The leaders should definitely make the decision, not the medicine cats. Whoever is leading the rebellion in MoonClan should also have a say.

The cats who are leading the rebellion in MoonClan are going to be the next leader and deputy, so they'd definitely be included.

I like the idea of combining the first and the third one except that I think there should be some variation in the punishment based on the circumstances. Like, a cat who was born into the new leadership wouldn't understand that killing someone because StarClan told you to is still wrong. There should be a little more forgiveness offered to the younger ones just because they really didn't know much better.

Okay, I agree with you Angel. The younger cats probably wouldn't know any better.

Also, I don't believe that the death penalty should be given. The rebellion marks a return to the original code, and execution doesn't fit into it at all.
