Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on April 9, 2015 at 9:00 AM

Here is the plot where we left off in the last plot entry. MoonClan and NightClan will continue to clash in a number of small border fights, these will not be officially organized so whenever you feel like starting one, get a few members together and go ahead with it. Be careful with powerplaying and to make sure that you’re putting tensions in the right place. These skirmishes will lead to a battle in which NightClan attacks MoonClan, in the fighting several kits could be injured or killed after being mistaken for young apprentices, or a NightClan warrior could attack MoonClan’s nursery. DawnClan will break their alliance with NightClan on moral grounds and join MoonClan, the two clans will decide to run NightClan out together. In the next gathering this plan will be announced, causing SunClan to join NightClan to preserve the balance of power and avoid creating a dangerous precedent of clans destroying eachother.

This plot is still flexible and can be changed if things begin to feel too forced. To make the changes in alliances more natural, they could be accompanied by a change of leadership in the clans. Toxicstar is already planned to be killed by a NightClan patrol. Burntstar is due to retire in May, Willowsong could be in power during the battle in which the MoonClan kits are injured or killed, and decide to change their alliance. However, this will force us to wait another month to have the battle begin, we could have a MoonClan/NightClan battle on the weekend of the 17th in which MoonClan attacks NightClan, possibly in response to Toxicstar’s death.

I think that containing most of it to NightClan for a while would be good, because if the battle happens before any cats even know that they're sick, Weepingtiger doesn't have much in the way of his "StarClan hates them" defense, because he would be seeing the same symptoms appearing in MoonClan and wouldn't have any idea what had caused it if the sickness is contagious before it shows symptoms.

We can have the first battle this weekend to give Toxicstar a chance to die, the sickness break out, the medicine cat meeting the weekend after, and a week or two after that we can have the battle in which the kits/medicine cats are attacked and MoonClan announces they're going to try to destroy NightClan. That would be a lot happening in a pretty short period of time, but this have been dragging a bit recently.

MoonClan could attack NightClan in this first battle, to give NightClan more reason to attack them later on, but that could go against Weepingtiger's defense that StarClan hates NightClan as well.

To make sure that we are all on the same page about what is going to be happening with the war and the disease, here's the altered timeline:
-There is a battle in which MoonClan attacks NightClan, it is relatively short and MoonClan retreats following Toxicstar?s death. It ends too quickly for DawnClan to become involved. This will be happening this weekend.
-A NightClanner comes down with the sickness, followed by several others in that clan.
-Medicine cat meeting in which the NightClan medicine cats mentions the new disease spreading through their camp, Weepingtiger warns them that it?s a message from StarClan.
-NightClan attacks MoonClan (possibly prompted by a border skirmish). In the fight a kit and/or medicine cat is attacked. DawnClan breaks their alliance with NightClan, MoonClan announces their intention to drive out NightClan, SunClan joins NightClan. Burntstar should retire before this point.
-The disease spreads throughout the clans, first to DawnClan, then MoonClan, and SunClan.

By this, the medicine cat meeting has been pushed back to the weekend of the 24th through 26th.
This plot will require a lot of cats to die, many from the disease. We'll need everyone to save up their characters for a bit so they have cats available to be killed during the outbreak.
As we get past the battle we should begin making plans for who will step forward with a plan to stop the disease and how the war will be brought to an end.

So basically this is helping us clear out some character space ? The problem is I have mainly kits and I'm too attached to it..

Alright, that's fine. Just avoid killing off characters randomly to clear out space, there will be plenty of opportunities to do it in ways that help the plot.

About how long will the disease be in the clans before they find a way to cure it?

Completely unrelated but possible plot idea-

We should have this really bad time where all of the leaders are thrown out of power and kept prisoner, by newer, evil leaders, and they don't believe in Starclan or anything. Yes, I got this plot idea from another similar site, so just tell me if its not allowed.

I thought I should say this, but I'm killing off Spiritshine in the middle of the outbreak.

Venom, I'm not sure how that would work, as the deputies of the Clan would have to be dealt with. Also, the Clans would probably try and do something to stop the leaders, and they'll just patch up afterwards, but they'll most likely be more aware of the cats they accept into their Clans. And I'm sure the Clan members wouldn't probably agree with this idea also. And I don't see how random evil cats could kill the leaders and deputies and become leader without any problems.

Not kill- imprison. And they wont just be taking over randomly, they will be secretly gathering a whole lot of supporters for this thing, and dealing with any highranks that stand in their way. Maybe even one or two deputies could be dissatisfied and try it. But if there is somethign we cant fix in this thing, then Im willing to dro the idea, seeing as we have a plot.

For me personally it would be great if the sickness plot wasn't resolved until after May 15th, but I think we should see how it all goes move on when the plot starts to feel slow.
If we were to have another big plot dealing with clan leadership being overthrown (similar to the old BoneClan plot?), I'd prefer if we held off until summer, so we can have more time to focus on it.

If we were to do a plot that involved the leaders getting overthrown we'd probably have to develop some sort of situation that could split all the clans down the middle. I don't think it necessarily has to be an "evil" group of cats, because I don't see that ever gaining much ground in somewhere like MoonClan (just given the size and loyalty of the members). But, just considering actual history, the main thing that divides a population is a different religious belief. So, maybe we could develop a religion other than StarClan, due to events causing a good portion of the cats to lose faith in them. Could add a new dynamic to the site, but could be a lot harder to manage and it would be something that permanently divides the Warriors.

Holding off on the plot it is, seeing we have our own major plot on the site right now.

OOH! That overthrowing plot sounds like it would be cool for the summer.
So here's my idears:
And like Angel said, it doesn't have to be an evil cat. Instead, it can be a cat that uses the clan for selfish reasons, maybe overthrows the leader and goes off on a revenge quest against the other clans. Maybe somebody important to them died from the other clans?... I don't know. Big war started by purely selfish reasons.
The religion thing Angel suggested would be interesting. Like a Sol sort of thing, but not? Maybe a religion that's like a Crusade, where all the infidels must be killed? Something like that?
Well, those were my random thoughts.

Here's an idea for the whole over throwing thing, Maybe a few of the cats who will over throw could steal a few kits from each clan, and teach them that Dark Forest are the ones to be worshipped, not Starclan. How these would steal the kits? They would pretend to join the clan, then after a night or two of them living there, while the queens are asleep, sneak in and steal the kits. I'm just throwing ideas around.

I think we should hold off on planning out the overthrow plot until we've already wrapped up, or have gotten close to closing, the sickness plot. If we get too ahead of ourselves, things might not work out as much as we would hope because the situation may have changed, or other opportunities may have opened.

Is the medicine cat meeting supposed to start today?

If we do the overthrowing eventaully, I have a prophecy idea. Cold winds will come and are here to stay, unless the finches can chase the cowbirds away. Cowbirds are parasitic birds who lay there eggs in the nests of other birds who already have eggs. The host parents then feed the baby that hatches. The cowbird baby is like an imposter.

Yes, the medicine cat meeting should have begun on the 24th. At this point it's best that we hold off until next weekend. Everyone, please remember the disease can't spread out of NightClan until after that meeting.
