Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on April 9, 2015 at 9:00 AM

Here is the plot where we left off in the last plot entry. MoonClan and NightClan will continue to clash in a number of small border fights, these will not be officially organized so whenever you feel like starting one, get a few members together and go ahead with it. Be careful with powerplaying and to make sure that you’re putting tensions in the right place. These skirmishes will lead to a battle in which NightClan attacks MoonClan, in the fighting several kits could be injured or killed after being mistaken for young apprentices, or a NightClan warrior could attack MoonClan’s nursery. DawnClan will break their alliance with NightClan on moral grounds and join MoonClan, the two clans will decide to run NightClan out together. In the next gathering this plan will be announced, causing SunClan to join NightClan to preserve the balance of power and avoid creating a dangerous precedent of clans destroying eachother.

This plot is still flexible and can be changed if things begin to feel too forced. To make the changes in alliances more natural, they could be accompanied by a change of leadership in the clans. Toxicstar is already planned to be killed by a NightClan patrol. Burntstar is due to retire in May, Willowsong could be in power during the battle in which the MoonClan kits are injured or killed, and decide to change their alliance. However, this will force us to wait another month to have the battle begin, we could have a MoonClan/NightClan battle on the weekend of the 17th in which MoonClan attacks NightClan, possibly in response to Toxicstar’s death.

I like the sickness idea. To heighten tensions between the clans (and progress the plot of MC and DC wanting NC gone) maybe the major outbreak could be in NightClan, and then Weepingtiger would refuse to help the sick cats or even give any supplies to them. Maybe he could even convince Leorio to do the same (if Lily agrees), and even attempt to convince Silverwind that it's StarClan declaring that NC is unfit to be a clan. If the sickness starts soon it could be the main point of discussion at the Medicine cat meeting coming up.

Spotty, everyone is welcome to join in on planning at any time they have something they want to pitch in :) I'm not sure if the band of rouges would be a big enough problem to the clans to warrant them coming together to stop it.

Angel, that sounds like a great idea, but we're going to have to either start it soon, or hold the medicine cat meeting back a week to buy a little more time, which I'm okay with if you guys are since we already have the battle scheduled for next weekend.

One thing- if we start it soon, wouldn't Nc be too weak to battle?..Or maybe they could storm Mc camp to attempt to gain supplies?..

If the battle is next week and the medicine cat meeting is the week after, we can have a few warriors come down with it this week, then it could really hit following the battle itself. That could give a little more weight to Weepingtiger's accusation that StarClan disapproves of NightClan.

What type of a sickness outbreak are we looking to do? Just the usual something-cough?

We can do the usual green- or black-cough, or we could bring in something new that the clans have had less exposure to, so that there needs to be even more communication between the clans about what is actually working to help treat it.

Im thinking human style mow but what if say the greencough or black cough mutated into something even more deadly?

Black-cough is already fairly deadly and I think having a more dangerous strain of that wouldn't force the clans to cooperate, unless we were to find a way to destroy catmint supplies in say, all territories but MoonClan. We are in green-leaf right now, so we could have a drought, perhaps a fire across SunClan's territory? I would prefer that if we do have a fire, we keep it out of the forest clans since it would take so long for the forest to return in those areas, but the grassland would spring back fairly quickly in SunClan's territory.

The sickness could be what is discussed on the following website maybe? A new plant might need to be found though for this to work. http://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/neurological/c_ct_botulism

Just glancing over the summary for the disease Spotted suggested, I think it's perfect. Since it comes from dead animal carcasses or spoiled food, it'll probably hit NightClan a heck of a lot harder than the other clans.

I'm not so sure, since it can't be spread from cat to cat I can't see it being a very widespread outbreak anywhere but NightClan unless it were to contaminate the river, and than it wouldn't be hitting NightClan first or hardest. If anything, they'd have fewer cases because they might have some other water sources around the city. Of course, we can just make it airborne as well, so it could start through contaminated food and then spread from there.

We could make it contagious, just add a coughing symptom or something else that would allow it to spread?

Sneezing? Cats can sneeze...

Coughing or sneezing, or we could keep all of the symptoms the same and have it spread through contact rather than by air? It would be slower to spread across the clans that way, but within clans it would go quickly. Who has a cross-clan relationship at the moment?

I like the idea by contact with the original symptoms stated in the article.

Gonna pop in- Black cough and stuff would be a fail. I know you guys already established this, but the city has an unlimited stock of catmint because of the gang cats and it would be all too easy for Nightclan cats to retrieve and spread.

And I can see the disease Spotty is talking about happening, if it became contagious like Ember and Angel said. But I don't think we need a close clan relationship if we want it to spread quickly. If Nightclan got it first, and they spread it during their next battle, that would stink a lot. If it's spread by body contact like Spotty suggested, that would work, with everybody so close to each other and stuff. And if it has a delayed reaction, none of the Nightclan cats would know they were sick until afterwards. Every clan would not only have wounded cats, but deathly ill cats. Perhaps it might not be so dramatic as paralysis, but it could be numbness and fever and stuff. The war would have to end because of the disease, and everyone would have to grudgingly work together to find a cure. I kind of just restated everything that was already said, but yeah. I think it's a really cool idea.

Rotten food sounds like it would start in Nightclan, so like ebony said, during the battle Nightclan could maybe spread it to Moonclan through the battle..but how would Sunclan and Dawnclan get it?

I'm assuming that the plot will continue as planned with DawnClan supporting MoonClan and SunClan supporting NightClan, at least until the disease hits full-on and they have to back down and start working together. DawnClan will be present during the battle, so they'll get it then. SunClan could be exposed to it while negotiating their alliance with NightClan.
