Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on August 7, 2014 at 8:00 PM

Hey guys! It’s time for us to get back to planning the direction we want the plot to head in.

Our last few wars have been relatively short and painless, it seems a bit overdue for a large, devastating war to happen again. For this to happen, we need to keep the main plot in mind while roleplaying at all times, while some aspects of clan life will remain unchanged, it is important to remember that they are, in fact, in a lot of danger at all times. This needs to be shown, leaders should be sending more border patrols, apprentices and mentors should be focusing on battle practice, the war and plans for it should be a very common topic of discussion between warriors and other cats. Basically, just push the plot a little darker and make the overall plot more present in the day to day lives of our characters.

Over the next few weeks there will be several large shifts in leadership to put leaders more likely to be stirring up a lot of trouble in charge. Quite a few of the current highranking cats will be dying, so we can use that as a way to get the clans even angrier at each other than they already are.

There are a few ideas I have for how we can start off from here, but feel free to suggest your own if you have a better idea. First off, MoonClan and SunClan can attack NightClan’s camp and defeat them together, cementing DawnClan’s alliance to NightClan. MoonClan can attack DawnClan for taking sides with NightClan when the kits were kidnapped. It’s petty, but MoonClan is the most likely to do something like that. A border skirmish could break out between NightClan and SunClan in which Ivorystar dies or loses a few lives, leading for NightClan to attack SunClan with DawnClan’s help.

Thoughts? Past whichever of these we choose, where do you think it should go past there?

I'd rather not do a prophecy. If something doesn't go according to plan and we have to adjust, a prophecy could restrict what we can do.

Yeah, and I already played Jadewing out as having had no word from Starclan on her whole situation, so there's that in the way.

We need to plan what we're going to do now. I think it makes the most sense for NightClan to get DawnClan to help them in attacking MoonClan, as MoonClan were the ones most eager to fight them in the first place, and is the clan that Raze has framed for Sandmask's death. NightClan can take back the sliver of territory above The Burnt Woods between the thunderpath and the river that has been switched between the two clans a few times now. If SunClan gets involved in this battle, NightClan can also take the burnt woods from them and give the territory from the river to the thunderpath to DawnClan.
This would put SunClan and MoonClan under a lot of pressure to attack again, especially since we're planning on that extremely harsh leafbare.

I had Lilac go into NightClan territory, carrying the sickness that is sweeping over MoonClan. She isn't actually showing the sickness, since I'd written in she'd been given medicine to keep her from getting sick by her former twolegs. I was thinking that might help spread some illness and make NightClan angrier with MoonClan. However, the sickness doesn't have to actually pass to the other cats. I was leaving it open-ended so people could choose if their cats caught it. I spoke with Ember about this and I'm pretty sure she was ok with it :) If not then we can pretend that Lilac isn't carrying the illness.

Yep, it's fine by me. Anything to bring more tension between the clans.

I could have Nightkit go into Nightclan's territory and Nightclan could think it's ok because of the alliance to keep her there until the natural disaster is over, leaving Dawnclan worried sick about her they could think either Moonclan or Suncan stole her. When Nightkit returns, she could say that she was with Nightclan and Dawnclan can accuse Nightclan of stealing her breaking their truce. I don't like the fact that it's only one kit making this happen, but maybe we could have like 3 kits go or something. It will definitely being ALOT of tension between Nightclan and Dawnclan.

I'd like DawnClan and NightClan to stick together for a while. I'm trying to build up the tension between the two sides, if we break them up and reshuffle allies we'd have to start from scratch on that. Something similar can be done when the current situation hits a dead end, but that probably won't happen for a long time.

"Can we have some of our cats leave the clans temporarily in DawnClan becausr they dont want to be part of the war and or allied with NightClan?" -Ravenwing

They can leave DawnClan, but they would have to move to another clan. All characters on this site must belong to a clan, if they were to leave it couldn't be for more than a few days.

Looks like it's time for that battle. There probably isn't enough time left tonight and since so many clans will be involved, it may be impossible to do over the week since everyone will have such different schedules. This is very inconvenient in the roleplay, but it may be best to hold off until this Friday.

Okay, a few times came up and I wasn't able to get the battle organized for last weekend and I'm sorry about that. It will be happening for sure this weekend, possibly as early as Friday evening.

I've got an idea for another battle that will take place next weekend, or possibly in two weeks between SunClan and DawnClan. For this to work and make sense, we need to be sure to stress what a bad situation SunClan is in. With the loss of their territory they are unable to feed themselves and cats are beginning to starve, on top of this it is possible a greencough plague will (and I think it should) sweep through the clan and weaken/kill a number of the warriors.
In a desperate attempt to get the portion of the territory they lost back from DawnClan, SunClan will attack DawnClan. They will be very weak but fight fiercely and the battle will be drawn out a long time without SunClan surrendering, as they know they can't afford to lose it. They need the territory, if they do lose the battle the cats that did not die in that will likely die of starvation over the next few weeks and they will not have another opportunity to have another battle before that, as they will be even further weakened by this battle. They can either win or lose, I have ideas for what will happen no matter which way it goes.
If SunClan wins and regains the territory they had lost, DawnClan will attack them again and win, since SunClan will still be weak.
If SunClan loses, they will be even more desperate and likely to turn to MoonClan for help in another attack against DawnClan, bringing MoonClan into the next conflict between DawnClan and SunClan.

Thoughts? What way do you guys think it should go? Just a note, Leaf-Bare will be extended through November, so we have plenty of time to get a few battles/skirmishes in before New-Leaf arrives.

Hm, I prefer notion two, about Sunclan losing and needing Moonclan's help.

Alright. That could put some strain on MoonClan and SunClan's alliance, but if we have MoonClan attacked later on (we'd need to figure out how to make that happen) we can make up for it. DawnClan and NightClan could win two battles in a row, which would strengthen both the alliances since DawnClan and NightClan will trust eachother more, and MoonClan and SunClan will need to rely on each other.

To get Moonclan attacked we could have some border skirmishes between Moonclan and Nightclan? Tension has always been high between them and if a warrior ends up dying in one of the skirmishes it'd be a good reason for an attack.
