Plot Planning

Posted by Ember on September 29, 2017 at 10:40 PM Comments comments (84)

Hi guys!

Recently there’s been some talk of deviating from our original plan to move EarthClan into DawnClan’s former territory and EclipseClan’s formation as outlined on the Planned Events Section of the History Page, toward a more peaceful route.

Either way, I think the most important thing is that whichever way we want to go, we should start actually heading that direction. The plot has been disappointingly stagnant lately, and we could risk losing all momentum with this plot if we don’t act fast.

Halloween Event

Posted by Ember on September 29, 2017 at 8:20 PM Comments comments (9)

Hello everyone!

This October we will continue our tradition of opening StarClan and Dark Forest threads to celebrate Halloween. The threads will be opened the week preceding Halloween (October 24th through November 1st). Other than the exceptions listed below, all other rules of the website apply to these threads.

  1. StarClan and Dark Forest cats cannot interact with living cats; events in the StarClan and Dark Forest threads cannot affect the living cats in any way.
  2. StarClan and Dark Forest cats can be fully aware of events in the living world and cannot be injured or killed, but cannot have other powers. There can be no prophecies given in StarClan or Dark Forest threads.
  3. Members who do not have any StarClan or Dark Forest cats may create one character to play in these threads. Do not post these StarClan or Dark Forest characters to the Character Updates Page.
  4. Characters must have belonged to their owner at their time of death. Note: if a character that originally belonged to you was posted as up for adoption and never claimed, you did not have ownership of them at the time of their removal from the pages and therefore cannot play the character in the StarClan and Dark Forest threads.
  5. StarClan and Dark Forest cats remain the rank they were at the time of their death

September Gathering and Medicine Meeting

Posted by Ember on September 4, 2017 at 11:35 PM Comments comments (5)

Hi y’all! The next gathering is scheduled to take place this coming weekend, September 8-10th. About 50 cats should attend the gathering from each clan. Leaders, make sure that each member with an eligible character in your clan has at least one character attending and try to have the invited character lists posted as soon as possible. The clans will travel to Hawk’s Tree on Friday, the gathering will officially begin Saturday, and the clans should return to their camps by Sunday evening. However, the gathering can go past that point if necessary. The medicine cat meeting will take place the following weekend (September 15-17th), following the same pattern.

The upcoming plot is fairly uncertain at this point, as is the identity of the new clans. To share your thoughts on these, please comment on the New Clans Planning blog entry and the Plot Planning Page. As well, I hope to get about 15 more votes on what the new clan should be named. If you haven’t yet voted, please do so here.

Plot Planning

A week and some change ago we voted to keep EarthClan and add a new clan to the website. While this new clan won’t be able to actually come together until we have EarthClan moved into DawnClan’s territory, we should start planning for the new clan now so we know what they want to be when they are formed. This blog entry is designated to specific in-game events, so if you want to share your ideas on what this new clan should be in terms of personality and name, check out the New Clans Planning.  A poll regarding what the new clan's name should be can be found here.

No specific events have been agreed upon for the overall plot, only the general arc that EarthClan will be pushed into DawnClan’s old territory before a final battle occurs and MoonClan, SunClan, and the rebels will abandon their attempts to destroy EarthClan. Why exactly this shift in goal will happen hasn’t been decided, though there is discussion that an eclipse could be interpreted as a sign of StarClan’s disapproval.

So, here are a points we need to address:

  • How and when should we move EarthClan solely into DawnClan’s former territory?
  • How should we proceed in-game with creating the new clan?
  • Why will MoonClan and SunClan give up on returning EarthClan to NightClan and DawnClan, and will an eclipse somehow be involved?

New Clans Planning

Update: a formal poll regarding the new clan's name can be found here. Once you complete the poll, there will be an option to "see previous responses" that will let you see where everyone else is standing. If it's close or we get a bunch of "other" responses, we could potentially re-poll.

The vote on what to do about EarthClan closed yesterday, with those in support of keeping EarthClan and forming a new clan receiving the most votes. While this new clan won’t be able to actually come together until we have EarthClan moved into DawnClan’s territory, we should start planning for the new clan now so we know what they want to be when they are formed.

Please limit discussion of how we will form this clan to what immediately affect the clan’s identity. Keeping plot-planning to the actual Plot Planning Blog Entry will help us keep on-topic here as we focus on building up two new clan identities. As well, this is not the place to discuss who will be the leader of the new clan. I will decide who it will be using our usual criteria and announce the new leader and deputy closer to when the clan is formed. The best thing you can do now to increase your chances is participating actively in this blog and following the suggestions on the How Leaders and Deputies are Chosen.

I think the best way to go about this would be to see what the established clans are based on, and then use that as a framework for building EarthClan and the new, still unnamed clan. So, here is more or less what I believe each clan identity boils down to.

MoonClan

  • Proud/arrogant, honorable, and courageous
  • Conformist and the most nationalistic clan
  • Moderately skilled hunters and fighters
  • Highly value discipline; regimented day to day lives; strict clan hierarchy
  • Suspicious of outsiders
  • Strong belief in StarClan and The Warrior Code

NightClan

  • Cunning, fierce, and ambitious.
  • Individualistic
  • Strong fighters but weak hunters, mostly scavenge for food
  • Loose clan hierarchy and administration, with a low value placed on discipline
  • Very accepting of outsiders
  • Weak belief in StarClan and in the value of the Warrior Code

DawnClan

  • Peaceful, compassionate, and forgiving.
  • Individualistic with low value on discipline
  • Moderate hunters and weak fighters, have the unique skill of fishing
  • Paternalistic leadership style with a flexible hierarchy and a Leisurely day to day existence
  • Moderately accepting of outsiders
  • Moderate belief in StarClan and generally follow the Warrior Code

SunClan

  • Cautious, intelligent, strive to embody “clan before the individual.”
  • Value teamwork and place little stock in the individual; conformist
  • Strong hunters but weak fighters
  • Strict leadership style and hierarchy, highly demanding expectations of warriors
  • Suspicious of outsiders
  • Moderate belief in StarClan, but follow The Warrior Code to the letter.

Based on those facts, here’s one direction we could potentially go with the new clans, assuming that EarthClan ends up in DawnClan’s old territory and the NightClan rebels resettle in NightClan’s old territory and form the new clan.

New Clan (Possible names: EclipseClan, SkyClan, CometClan, GalaxyClan, NovaClan, MeteorClan, NebulaClan, please suggest more)

  • Resourceful, fierce, domineering
  • Individualistic
  • Strong fighters but weak hunters, mostly scavenge for food
  • Rigid clan hierarchy and administration, with each rank asserting themselves over lower ranks
  • Moderately accepting of outsiders. Only accepts those who they deem strong enough, or alternatively, those who actually seem committed to their clan. Expect all outsiders to assimilate into clan life.
  • Weak belief in StarClan, but a high degree of value in Warrior Code

EarthClan

  • Tolerant, compassionate, and grounded
  • Individualistic with low value on discipline, strives to encourage each cat’s strengths rather than make a uniform
  • Moderate hunters and weak fighters, have the unique skill of fishing
  • Paternalistic leadership style with a flexible hierarchy and a Leisurely day to day existence
  • Very accepting of outsiders
  • Extremely variable beliefs in StarClan and the Warrior Code

Of course, this is only one way to go about it, and I want to hear all of your thoughts on which direction we should head in to creating these new clans.

Gathering & Other Events

Hello everyone! The next gathering is scheduled to take place this coming weekend, August 18-20th. About 40 cats should attend the gathering from each clan. The medicine cat meeting will take place the following weekend (August 25-27th), following the same pattern. The upcoming plot is very uncertain, so there isn’t anything specific planned to happen during these events.

I plan on closing the vote on the future of EarthClan on Thursday the 17th so we can plan where we want to take the plot. There’s more information about that vote on the Plot Planning Page and if you haven’t voted yet, please do.

Hello everyone! If you aren’t up to date on what we have planned for the roleplay over the next little while, please check out the Planned Events Section of The History Page.

While the recent log-in glitch set us behind, we’re still on track to have the battle start this weekend. I currently have an EarthClan patrol going to steal food from SunClan’s territory, which as planned should prompt Desolatestar to call in MoonClan and go forward with the attack. EarthClan will win this battle by splitting up the attackers and ambushing them, but we haven’t decided what should happen following EarthClan’s victory and if y’all agree, that’s where we should focus most of our attention during this plot planning discussion.

Gathering & Battle Planning

Posted by Ember on July 9, 2017 at 11:40 PM Comments comments (27)

Hey guys, we have some planning to work out. By our usual calendar, the next gathering will fall this coming weekend (July 14-16) and the medicine cat meeting the weekend after that (July 21-23).

As well, we have planned a dog attack on MoonClan and to have the humans gas a rabbit warren in SunClan territory, followed by a major battle. We can have the dog attack and rabbit warren gassing happen in the coming week (which MoonClan and SunClan can try to hide during the gathering), followed by the gathering. Then, to give us a bit of time for the battle, we can let two weeks pass and have the battle take place on the weekend of the 28th-30th. Does that sound alright to you? None of this is set in stone, just my attempt at how it could work, so if you have any ideas please speak up.

Regardless of when exactly the gathering happens, about 30 cats should attend the gathering from each clan. Leaders, make sure that each member with an eligible character in your clan has at least one character attending and try to have the invited character lists posted as soon as possible. The clans will travel to Hawk’s Tree on Friday, the gathering will officially begin Saturday, and the clans should return to their camps by Sunday evening but the gathering can go past that point if necessary. As well, I’ve noticed that the medicine cat meetings have been poorly attended lately. Medicine cats, please put the meeting down on your calendars as I will not be sending out any reminders for it.

June Gathering

Hello everyone!  I'm so sorry that I totally dropped the ball this past week and forgot about the gathering.  Thankfully, we don't have any big plots going on that will be hurt by pushing the gathering back a week.  So, the next gathering is scheduled to take place this coming weekend, June 16-18th.

About 40 cats should attend the gathering from each clan.

The medicine cat meeting will take place the following weekend (June 23-25th), following the same pattern.

Hi guys!  If you haven’t yet, please check out the last Plot Planning Page and the History Page, which was updated on the 25th.

As Ripple pointed out on the EarthClan Camp thread, there seem to be a whole bunch of disconnected side plots going on right now. Ideally, we can talk here about how to wind some of those side plots together to aid the overall plot.

As well, we need to decide what to do about the meeting between MoonClan and SunClan scheduled to take place in 14 in-game days. This doesn’t necessarily need to be 14 out-of-game days.

Changes

Posted by Ember on May 20, 2017 at 2:05 AM Comments comments (9)

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for filling out the survey, it would be difficult to overstate how valuable the surveys are for helping me understand how to improve members’ experiences of the site. If you haven’t filled it out yet, don’t worry, it’ll continue to check it over the next few weeks. As well, the “contact us” box on The Help Page is always open for anonymous messages, but be warned that it can take a few hours for the message to end up in my inbox.

Based on the responses I’ve gotten so far I’ve planned a bunch of small changes that will go into effect over the next few days. I’m going to change the welcome message I use for members to highlight the importance of reading the rules and to explain where they can find the guides and other helpful resources. As well, I’m going to keep a closer eye on the ceremonies and reach out to leaders as soon as the ceremonies are late. I’m already working on a guide on how each clan uses herbs and other medicine cat techniques differently based on their philosophy and resources. If you have any ideas for the guide, I’d love to hear them. Finally, I plan on adding border threads to the forums when I reorganize them to include EarthClan as one unit.

There were also a few suggestions for features that the website already has: we have an event around Halloween each year where members are allowed to play StarClan and Dark Forest cats, a frequently asked questions page can be found under the guides section of The Help Page (though ideas for new questions are always great!), and a list of all mentor-apprentice pairs can be found at the bottom of The Clans Page.

The biggest criticism of the site from this survey- as in past surveys- is the plot planning system and personally I couldn’t agree more with everyone’s complaints. However, while there’s some consensus that it’s a flawed system, there weren’t any concrete suggestions for how to solve the Plot Planning Page’s faults. While having more members post consistently would (at least in my opinion) help, I’m at my wit’s end for how to encourage more members to post. As well, I know that my opinion and the moderators’ opinions carry more weight in the plot planning page than they should, but I don’t know how to correct that beyond reminding people that unless we’re raising concerns about whether a plot breaks the rules, we should carry the weight of an ordinary member. So, please, if you have any ideas for how to improve that system, don’t hesitate to speak up.

Unfortunately, there were also a handful of suggestions that I’m unable to fix. I’m in contact with our website host about the array of technical issues they’ve accumulated (such as the glitchy side bar and the “Recent Activity” section getting stuck on 1 second ago) and I’ll pass information on to you guys as soon as I get it, but so far their engineers seem stumped. As far as notifications go, I can’t control which notifications members get. If you want to change your personal notifications, go to your page>edit profile>notification preferences.

I also received some suggestions that I won’t go ahead with, but would like to acknowledge. I don’t want to bring back restrictive rules regarding how members can name their characters and restricting the roleplay to prevent members from focusing on romance side-plots or quickly going through characters. While I do think that the clans’ history and the cats’ close interactions with two-legs would reasonably change what exactly the naming rules are (I discussed this in more depth in Monthly Meow LVII), my biggest reservation here is that I think it’s more important to allow members to be true to their characters and the stories they want to tell than to rigidly adhere to the canon Warrior Cats Universe rules with something as insignificant as naming. As for romance plots go, for as much as I beg and plead that members keep an eye toward the site-wide plot, I don’t think it’s fair to force them to roleplay certain storylines when what they want to roleplay isn’t directly interfering with a plot the rest of the website has agreed to. If you don’t like to roleplay romance plots -or anything else- you don’t have to join the people who do. As for members who quickly go through characters, I ask that you consider whether you intend to keep a character long-term before posting them to help me stay on top of updates, but don’t feel comfortable making a restrictive guideline on how many characters members can make in a certain timeline. I understand that members mostly make characters with the best of intentions and managing their characters should be left in their hands.

Hello everyone! I just updated the History Page and its Planned Events section.  If you haven't yet, please check those out. Unfortunately, some of those plans have fallen through and we hadn't discussed how to proceed on the last plot planning page, so I had to make some adjustments on my own.  For instance, as Creekstar is presumed dead, arranged mateship between her and Tiger won't be possible, but we can still have arranged mateship between other prominent DawnClan and NightClan members.

I'd like to hear all of your thoughts regarding the planned events and any other ideas you have!  While the merge itself is relatively set in stone now, the details of it are not.  I've noticed that participation in the site-wide plot has dropped fairly substantially in the past few weeks and am uncertain of why that is, but I'd like to remind everyone that you'd don't need to have a high ranking or prominent character to make a difference.  Usually the hardest part to making plots happen is to have characters even acknowledge what is supposed to be going on- be it anything from a weather event to political turmoil- so even just having your cats gossiping or sharing their opinions is a help.  As well, you should never hesitate to post here or message other members if you are having trouble finding a place for your characters in the overall plot.

April Gathering

Posted by Ember on April 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM Comments comments (10)

The next gathering is scheduled to take place this coming weekend, April 14th-16th. About 35 cats should attend the gathering from each clan. Leaders, make sure that each member with an eligible character in your clan has at least one character attending and try to have the invited character lists posted by Wednesday afternoon.

The clans will travel to Hawk’s Tree on Friday, the gathering will officially begin Saturday, and the clans should return to their camps by Sunday evening but the gathering can go past that point if necessary. The medicine cat meeting will take place the following weekend (April 21-23rd), following the same pattern.

The plot is fairly up in the air right now, as how the EarthClan merge will come about hasn’t been planned out in detail and there’s been some discussion of DawnClan warriors holding out in their current camp and refusing the merge. Please keep up to date on the plot planning page so you know what’s going on and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, member opinions and ideas are by far the biggest contributor to planned events.

Plot Planning

Hello everyone! This morning a handful of members raised some concerns about the proposed EarthClan plot. To get the details, please check on the most recent plot planning page, but the gist of their worries is that it isn’t realistic for where the clans are now and feels forced. The plot hasn’t had much momentum so far, so I would like to hear from the rest of y’all whether you guys think we should continue with it as planned, alter the plan, or scrap the idea all together. If we do alter it, what do you think we should do instead of what is currently planned?

There is a gathering scheduled for this coming weekend, but if we need to move it back a week that isn’t a big deal, especially since the gathering would cover both Good Friday and Easter so a bunch of our members might not be able to make it anyway.

March Gathering

Posted by Ember on March 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM Comments comments (19)

Hi guys, there's a gathering scheduled to begin Friday the 17th.  This is going to be a fairly eventful gathering, as SunClan's former medicine cat Sharkfang is planned to kill Lightningstar, DawnClan's leader.  Before the gathering starts, SunClanners should begin falling sick with greencough.  Also, please note that we planned to have a late and cold new-leaf, so cats should be starting to worry about the continued cold and how little prey they're able to catch.  If you haven't yet, be sure to read over the Planned Events section of the History Page and the Plot Planning Page.

About 50 cats should attend the gathering from each clan. Leaders, make sure that each member with an eligible character in your clan has at least one character attending. The clans will travel to Hawk’s Tree on Friday, the gathering will officially begin Saturday, and the clans should return to their camps by Sunday evening but the gathering can go past that point if necessary. The medicine cat meeting will take place the following weekend (March 24th-26th), following the same pattern.

Plot Planning

Hello everyone!

If you haven’t yet, please read over the planned events section of the history page. I haven’t gotten the chance to update it since last week, so there are references to Lightningstar disappearing and Floodheart taking her place, but other than that the information still stands.

The plot seems sufficiently planned out for now, but I worry that the SunClan arc could be made stronger. There’s been very limited tension between Icestar and Jaguargaze supporters, so we could possibly drop that thread and try something else in SunClan. MoonClan has also been quiet recently and while that may pick up when they are attacked by NightClan and DawnClan, I’d love to hear any suggestions for plots there.

As an aside for everyone with cats traveling between DawnClan and NightClan, please do not record these movements on the Character Updates page. Since all of the characters will still be considered members of their original clans and are only temporarily staying with the other clan, there’s no need for them to be moved on the pages.

Eighth Anniversary

Posted by Ember on January 16, 2017 at 2:00 AM Comments comments (14)

Today, January 16th 2017, marks the eighth anniversary of this website’s creation. It’s so strange to think that the little website I created on a whim eight years ago has blossomed into the amazing community of talented roleplayers that it is today. While my relationship to the website has changed over time, not a day passes when I’m not astounded by all of you. I’m so happy and thankful that you’ve chosen to spend your time here.

Acorn, I love reading dialogue between your characters, it always flows so naturally. Your characters are consistent without being stagnant, always holding steady where they should and shifting where they should. I always look forward to seeing what you’re going to do next with your characters.

Alienfish, your posts always bring a smile to my face—usually from laughter, though you can cover a lot more ground than humor when it’s needed. I adore your occasionally off-beat but never malicious sense of humor and look forward to reading your roleplaying. However, when you need to get serious, you certainly don’t flinch away from that either.

Anarchy, your posts always bring a smile to my face. They’re so genuine, you really get right to the heart of what your character is thinking. I know I said this last year, but it’s intense and direct in a way that I struggle to write and I truely admire how little you beat around the bush.

Averyiator, it feels like you’ve been around the website for months or even years. It’s rare we get a member who just throws herself into roleplay in the way that you have and let me say, it’s so greatly appreciated. Thank you for never hesitating to share your thoughts, jump into a scene, and just get the roleplay going!

Berrysong, thank you for being such a reliable member, I know I can always turn to you for help. The combination of reliability and flexibility is such a rare combination, but one that you have and I admire you for. As well, I appreciate how eager you always are to help out new members. You’re such a natural moderator and I’m glad to have you on my team.

Blossom, you’re such a genuine sweetheart. I adore your quiet character development, which never seems to swing to one extreme or the other and leave you with bland or over-the-top characters. Thank you for sticking around on the website for so long, it’s down to earth roleplayers like you who keeps the website going when the overarching plot alone just isn’t cutting it.

Dapple, your understated style of roleplaying and drawing has always stunned me. The details and soft colors and images are just gorgeous, please never think you’re being drowned out by some more startling work. I can only see good things in the future for you.

Fangchica, I was so excited to see your name at the top of the pending accounts list earlier this week and look forward to roleplaying with you again! You’ve grown so much as a roleplayer in the time that you’ve been on the website and I’m always looking forward to what you’ll do next.

Flower, I adore how detailed character descriptions are. They give such a good sense of who each of your cats is, providing just enough context for them to make sense without delving into long-winded descriptions of every detail of their past lives and personalities.

Henry, I appreciate what an honest person you are. You don’t fluff what you’re saying or beat around the bush, but it never feels mean-- just open. You’re incredible at shaping arguments and presenting them with confidence, I’m sure that will carry you as far offline as it has here!

Kingfish, you have such a talent for pushing plots forward. I know I can always turn to you when things just aren’t moving and you never fail to bring that little spark back to the roleplay. You’re always so inclusive of other roleplayers too, I’m so thankful to have you around binding the community together.

Lightning, I realize you’re not on the site anymore but I’d written this beforehand and, hey, maybe you’re stalking our news page: I’m not exaggerating in saying that the website would no longer exist if it wasn’t for you. Thank you so much for helping me run the website and generally keep my sanity these past few years. You’re always a lot of fun to talk to, whether we’re talking about about the intricacies of plot planning on here or Game of Thrones or anything else.

Lilywish, I was so excited to see that you’d rejoined the roleplay. You’re among the sweetest people I have ever met, as well as recently discovered, having a great taste in movies. I hope we get a chance to roleplay more soon, I don’t think we have in a while!

Lochflame you have such an amazing diversity of characters. From the most frightening killers to the sweetest queens, I’m always amazed at how versatile your roleplaying style is. The characters always feel genuine and you have such a good sense for when to play each character to keep scenes and plots on track.

Lunardrop, I’m always amazed at how you can throw yourself into a single character. I know that I and a whole bunch of other roleplayers would be hard-pressed to constrain ourselves to one character, but you consistently do it and do it well. I adore Lunarshade, Sneakstep, and Flintflick. They always have stayed true to who they are as characters, no matter how the situation may strain them.

Mockingdeath, your posts always bring a smile to my face. I can’t quite place whether it’s your wicked sense of humor (to borrow a favorite word of yours) or just the clear effort you put into your characters, but whatever it is, don’t stop!

Oakflame, sadly because of your internet being out we haven’t been to roleplay in a while, I look forward to writing with you whenever you’re able to get back on. You’re so enthusiastic and fun to be around!

OwlFae, you’re such a compassionate person. Thank you for always speaking up for what is right instead of holding your tongue and keeping your head down. It shows through your characters, both when they’re aligned with your morals and when they aren’t through how you frame your characters—such a talent.

Raven, you’re such a genuine pleasure to have around the site. Your characters are so sweet and cute, perfect for setting the tone whether it’s going to be dark and depressing, or lighting for the more day-to-day roleplay scenarios. Thanks for bringing that versatility to the roleplay!

Ripple, thank you for being such a grounding force in the occasional chaos that is this website. Thank you for all the times you’ve kept plots from getting out of hand and for just being an organizing force around the website. I know I’d have lost my sanity a long time ago if it weren’t for roleplayers like you.

Runningwish, you’re among the most enthusiastic members I’ve ever had on this website. Your excitement for the website and your characters never fails to shine through in your roleplaying and I can’t help but find it contagious. Thank you for reminding me how much fun roleplaying can be when I get dragged down in the tedious aspects of keeping this website running.

Shade, I always look forward to roleplaying with you. Your style is so clean and simple, compelling without having to dip into the flashiness that more easily grabs people’s attention. Your writing flows so clearly and your characters feel like real people I could run into at the grocery store or walking the dog. Thank you so much for helping me run the site and for roleplaying with me.

Shadecloud, I really appreciate your understated style of roleplaying. WCF has its own Hemmingway, it seems, since you always manage to put just the perfect amount of detail in your posts, without jumping straight to the post or beating around the bush- it really is a striking ability.

Shiryuu, it astonishes me to think that you’ve been on this website for nearly three years. It somehow feels like you’ve both joined yesterday and that you’re been on this website since it was founded eight years ago. You’ve always been one of the sweetest people on the website, please never lose your compassion.

Silverwind, chin up! I know you’ve had a tough time these past few months, but it never ceases to amaze me how thoughtful you’ve been toward all of the other members-- you’re truly such a selfless and kind person. As well, thank you for always speaking up when you suspect rules are being broken around the website, it’s a great help in keeping everything organized and stopping situations before they get out of hand.

Snow-wolf, I hope that your recovering is going well. All of us are rooting for you and I can assure you that if there’s anything we can do to help, I can get it happening. You’re the sweetest person and an amazing roleplayer, the website is lucky to have you.

Soleggi, I hope I get to roleplay more with you in the future! What little we have been able to play, it’s been so much fun having our characters bounce off of each other. Your posts are just the right mixture of detail and witty dialogue and just a joy to read.

Spicy, thank you for always being someone I can turn to for help. You’re so warm and reliable, always eager to lend a hand and help out the new members. As well, I can’t help but mention your art. All of your drawings are so expressive and your eye for color is so well developed, I always look forward to seeing your new artwork!

Sunken, dude, I say this every year, but we made it! I’ve always been so in awe of your art and writing, not to mention you’re one of the funniest people I know. I’m so excited to hear about how the Sunken project is coming along and can hardly wait to see the finished product.

Tiny, at the risk of sounding like an old lady I’m going to say that you’re such a sweetheart and an absolute joy to have around the website. Your characters have the sort of kindness to them that can only reflect on the roleplayer. That’s not to say that your characters are one sided, when you need to go dark, you certainly can.

Whispering Sea, having a few extroverts on a website of primarily introverted writers and artists is never a bad thing. I don’t think I’ve had a chance to roleplay with you yet, but your character descriptions are so rich with detail I look forward to seeing what you post next!

Wolfie, I hope we get a chance to roleplay together soon. I always look back fondly on scenes, as scattered as the occasionally were due to our schedules never seeing to cooperate. Your roleplaying is so expressive and it really shines through in the wide range of emotional states your characters go through, all more realistic and interesting than the last.

New members, welcome to the site! We haven’t gotten a chance to get to know each other yet, but I look forward to roleplaying with you all soon!

Thank you so much everyone for the great year we’ve had, here’s to an even better 2017!

Plot Planning

Hello everyone! If you haven’t already, please read over the Planned Events section at the top of the History Page.

The most contentious issue in the planned plot is whether or not to have a substantial portion of NightClan’s population neutered and, if we decide to go with that plot, how they should respond. Henry and I have been going back and forth on this on the last plot blog entry, so if you haven’t yet it’s a good idea to read over the last few pages of it so you know where the current discussion stands and can offer your thoughts on what would be the most interesting and realistic direction for the plot to head.

As well, how do you feel about the rest of the plot?

Over the past few days I’ve noticed that there hasn’t been much tension in SunClan surrounding Jaguargaze and Icestar and while I suspect that’s more a result of how busy this time of year is, I’d like to hear your thoughts on the SunClan schism. Will your characters actually be split between the two, or would you feel like you’re forcing conflict where there is none?

December Gathering & MC Meeting

Update: in order to accomodate for members who are taking finals next week and in the hopes that the sidebar glitch will be resolved, I've decided to move the gathering back a week.  Thanks for your imput!

The December gathering will take place from the 16th to the 18th. About 55 cats should attend the gathering from each clan. Leaders, make sure that each member with an eligible character in your clan has at least one character attending and that you choose the most trouble-making eligible character that you can from each member. The clans will travel to Hawk’s Tree on Friday, the gathering will officially begin Saturday, and the clans should return to their camps by Sunday evening.  The medicine cat meeting will take place next weekend (December 23th-25th).

This gathering should be used to strengthen the connection between MoonClan and SunClan, and NightClan and DawnClan. I will update the Planned Events Page later this afternoon so we’re all on the same page where the plot is currently heading. That said there isn’t much consensus on the Plot Planning Page so whenever you get the chance, please check out that blog entry and share your thoughts. All comments are helpful comments, even if you’re just saying you don’t have any objections.
